About the role

As a Senior Database Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of our organization's databases. Your role involves optimizing database performance, ensuring data integrity, implementing security measures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business operations and data-driven decision-making.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and implement database solutions based on business requirements and industry best practices.

• Optimize database performance through efficient schema design, indexing strategies, query optimization, and performance tuning.

• Ensure data integrity, consistency, and availability across databases through backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.

• Implement and enforce database security measures, access controls, and data encryption to protect sensitive information.

• Collaborate with software developers, data analysts, and IT teams to integrate database systems with applications and analytics platforms.

• Monitor database health, performance metrics, and resource utilization to proactively identify and resolve issues.

• Develop and maintain documentation, data dictionaries, and standard operating procedures for database systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Master's degree preferred.

• Proven experience 5yrs as a Database Engineer, Database Administrator, or related role in managing enterprise-level databases.

• Strong expertise in database design, development, implementation, and administration using relational database management systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).

• Proficiency in SQL programming, stored procedures, triggers, and database scripting languages.

• Experience with database performance monitoring tools, backup/recovery solutions, and data modeling tools.

• Knowledge of database security practices, data encryption, access controls, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

• Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.

• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
