About This Position
Savi Gurus is seeking an independent, experienced and dynamic Data Architect Consultant to lead the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge data solutions. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in data solution design and modeling, technical expertise to act as a lead engineer, and a strong understanding of software product development methodologies. This lead engineer is expected be highly organized and self-driven, to be interested in capturing knowledge and optimizing processes, and can balance critical thinking on current data solutions (with a good load of technical debt) and constructive collaboration with current developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Warehouse Architecture and Design
- Define the overall data architecture, including pipelines, storage, modeling, and integration for scalable solutions on Google Cloud (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Cloud Scheduler, Cloud Run).
- Establish and maintain data catalogs, governance standards, and development conventions.
- Ensure data solutions align with business objectives, data security policies, and compliance standards.
- Technical Development Leadership
- Act as a lead engineer, overseeing the implementation of data pipelines, transformations, and integrations.
- Drive development best practices for ELT pipelines, cloud-based data lakehouses, and BI reporting.
- Define and optimize workflows for development, testing, and deployment, including CI/CD integration.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Partner with stakeholders (business users, product managers, executives, and IT teams) to gather and finalize data product requirements, define success metrics, and guide design decisions.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to support diverse use cases, including reporting, advanced analytics, and application development.
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and advocate for continuous improvement across teams.
- Operational Excellence
- Establish monitoring, alerting, and quality assurance processes to ensure reliable data systems.
- Provide operational support, including triage and resolution of issues.
- Identify risks, gaps, and weaknesses in existing designs and processes, and recommend improvements.
Required Work Experience
- A minimum of 7 years' experience in a data or IT role, including at least 5 years of hands-on experience as a BI Developer, Analytics Engineer, Data Architect, or similar position.
- Proven experience leading development teams or acting as a lead engineer.
Required Architecture and Governance Experience
- Expertise in defining data governance standards, maintaining data catalogs, and producing thorough documentation.
- Proficiency in creating data flow and process diagrams using tools such as Lucidchart or Visio.
Technical Expertise
- Advanced knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run, Composer, Scheduler, Dataflow, Vertex AI).
- Proficiency in SQL and workflow orchestration tools such as dbt or Dataform.
- Experience in Python or similar scripting languages for data engineering tasks.
- Strong expertise in Power BI or equivalent BI tools, including the design of semantic models, dashboards, and reports.
- Experience with git-based CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions workflows.
Required Software Product Development Knowledge
- Working knowledge of product development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
- Proficiency in project management and task-tracking tools like Jira and ClickUp.
Required Soft Skills
- Fluent in English, with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- A passion for knowledge sharing and mentoring team members.
- A mindset of continuous improvement, both in personal growth and process optimization.
- Highly organized and effective in managing ambiguous or stressful situations.
- Curious and open-minded, with a keen interest in technology trends, experimentation, and prototyping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, Professional Cloud Architect, or equivalent certifications with other data technology vendors.
The client is a multi-national organization operating in Canada, US, and Latin America. The immediate need is for a bi-lingual English/Spanish speaker working 100% remotely on a Google Big Query initiative. 7+ years of experience is required for this position. You can live anywhere in LATAM.
