The pharmacy technician assists in the provision of pharmaceutical services under the direct supervision of the registered pharmacist by performing the technical, clerical and manipulative tasks involved in dispensing, preparing, and distributing all medications and pharmaceutical products for all patient age groups, which includes geriatrics, adult, adolescent, pediatric and neonatal,

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Registered Pharmacy Technician with NJ board of Pharmacy
• Pharmacy Technician Certification Board-PTCB- certification within 6 months of employment,

Preferred:

• One year Hospital Pharmacy Technician experience preferred with good interpersonal relationship skills
• Certifications and Licenses Required:
• Registered Pharmacy Technician with NJ board of Pharmacy
• Pharmacy Technician Certification Board-PTCB- certification within 6 months of employment,

Essential Functions:

• Maintenance of all Procedural Pyxis machines in OR, CathLab, L&D, and other miscellaneous areas
• Responsible for refilling Pyxis, maintaining inventory counts, checks for and removes expired medications from stock, dating short dated products for stock, and other tasks in line with OR and procedural areas
• Assists when needed to fill patient specific medications, Pyxis refills, and cart fills and delivers to nursing units as assigned
• Restocks code carts and code boxes for patient care areas
• May need to prepare and labels extemporaneously compounded non-sterile pharmaceuticals
• Answers and directs telephone calls and other inquiries including those from medical staff and nursing staff in a professional and courteous manner
• Knowledgeable of changing policies and procedures
• Completes department and organization competencies and training as assigned
