Courses offered through The LearningForce are non-credit, short-term skills training programs customized to meet the needs of the individual and company.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The LearningForce Range Aid provides support to motorcycle safety training instructors before/during and after the motorcycle safety training course. Candidate must be available to work evenings and weekends.EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The LearningForce Range Aid will exhibit a positive example of customer service while participating in the efforts of The LearningForce unit. The Range Aid works directly with the Motorcycle Safety Training instructor and reports to the executive director of The LearningForce.
- Painting Range Markings
- Setting up Range Cones
- Assisting with servicing the Motorcycles
- Assisting with maintenance of the Motorcycles
- Assisting in moving the Motorcycles into position for the classes
- Classroom assistance as needed
- Safety Monitor during training
- Closing of the range at the end of class
The preceding duties have been provided as examples of the essential types of work performed by positions within this job classification. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position is a part of the Federal work-study program, to qualify you must be a State Fair Community College student enrolled in the current semester and eligible for Financial Aid thorough the Federal Work-study program.
Education: Current SFCC student eligible for a work-study position.
Skills: Demonstrate evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrate student centeredness, and be able to interact with a broad range of people with diverse backgrounds both on and off campus in a positive manner. Possess a demonstrated ability to operate and maintain a motorcycle or small engine equipment and associated materials and processes. Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college.
Behaviors: Exhibit a high degree of motivation and initiative. Exhibit a positive attitude and teamwork approach to tasks and interactions. Ability to solve problems and communicate clearly. Must be accessible and responsive to communication with TLF personnel. Response time to inquiries or requests should be within 24 hours on weekdays unless otherwise specified. In case of absence, Range Aid Work Study should notify relevant supervisors in advance. All communications should be courteous, clear and solution-oriented to foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Experience: No experience required.
PHYSICAL TASKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work involves day, evening and weekend hours. Range Aid must be able to walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, squat, and climb, as necessary during development and delivery of training project. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Able to lift objects (up to 40 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. Possible exposure to chemicals, serology, gases and powders, as well as, materials and equipment that can cause cuts and burns.
