The Commercial Analyst will primarily be responsible for Back/Middle Office activities of the Commercial team, with a focus on performing settlement calculations, revenue reporting, and reviewing contracts for tracking obligations. The Commercial Analyst’s responsibilities will include the maintenance and management of revenue- centric models that facilitate the distribution of investor reporting and invoicing, as well as the development of automation tools to streamline commercial processes. This position with interface with external clients performing market analyses and reporting on monthly results.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Perform basic settlement and invoicing activities under supervision, including shadow settlements and validation of final
  2. settlements for standard ISO, hedge, and REC contracts; support communication with counterparties to facilitate alignment and escalate discrepancies as necessary.
  3. Collaborate with Accounting on invoicing, payments, and providing revenue reconciliations for monthly reporting.
  4. Support communications with asset management clients and offtakers, building an understanding of how market conditions and events influence project revenues.
  5. Verify ISO bilateral trade scheduling and support execution of Day-Ahead/Real-Time Scheduling
  6. Assist in drafting transaction confirmations (power swaps, REC sales, etc.)
  7. Analyze, reconcile, and support evaluation of confirmations for accuracy, ensuring proper amounts and Commercial terms.
  8. Collaborate with Asset Management and Accounting to deliver investor reporting, including assisting with the and explanation of budget vs. actual variances as well as the related market analysis.
  9. Maintain revenue models for reporting to internal and external stakeholders, with the goal of suggesting improvements related to efficiencies.
  10. Develop an understanding of revenue calculation methodologies and support internal verification of financial impacts.
  11. Analyze energy market data and trends to build knowledge of financial performance drivers for solar, wind and other assets.
  12. Read contracts to understand basic Commercial obligations; record and communicate obligations to Management and Contract Administration.
  13. Manage REC trading and tracking system activity (PJM GATS, NCRETS, WREGIS, TX REC etc.)

Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, or related field.
  2. 3+ years of relevant experience in M&A, FP&A, and Commercial domains required; past experience working in the financial or energy industries highly preferred; experience directly supporting Back-Office functions in wholesale or retail electricity preferred.
  3. Experience preparing, reviewing, and auditing complex models in Excel.
  4. Proven competence in MS Excel-based modeling, financial planning and analytics.
  5. Knowledge of ISO market operations and settlements, especially in PJM, MISO and ERCOT preferred.
  6. Basic understanding of energy markets, solar technology, and wind technology.
  7. Ability to analyze and extract relevant information within contracts.
  8. Ability to extract, manipulate, and summarize large amounts of data.
