Position Description:

The Alamo is hiring Tour Guides!

Part-time positions available. Come be part of a growing historical site.

Starting pay $15 an hour.

POSITION SCOPE

The Alamo Tour Guide delivers engaging, accurate and meaningful interpretation of the Alamo site and its more than 300 years of history through guided tours, educational talks, and a variety of interpretative platforms. The role is responsible for creating a memorable guest experience by bringing history to life in ways that are accessible, relevant, and inspiring.

Ideal candidates are articulate, personable, and enthusiastic communicators who enjoy interacting with a wide range of visitors and the ability to connect with diverse audiences- including youth, families, educators, and seniors. Strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, and a passion for storytelling and history are essential.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Complete training and maintain a strong knowledge of the Alamos history and interpretive best practices.

Willingness to learn and retain detailed historical information and deliver a comprehensive general tour of the Alamo.

Provide specialized tours tailored to specific audiences, events, and commemorative dates.

Adapt tour content and delivery style to effectively connect with various audiences.

Deliver age-appropriate educational tours aligned with grade-level standards for student groups of all ages.

Collaborate with Guest Experience and Living History leadership to develop interactive and engaging visitor experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma required.

Experience in public speaking, teaching, or historical interpretation preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to engage with diverse audiences and speak in front of groups.

Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and educators.
