Starting pay $15 an hour.
POSITION SCOPE
The Alamo Tour Guide delivers engaging, accurate and meaningful interpretation of the Alamo site and its more than 300 years of history through guided tours, educational talks, and a variety of interpretative platforms. The role is responsible for creating a memorable guest experience by bringing history to life in ways that are accessible, relevant, and inspiring.
Ideal candidates are articulate, personable, and enthusiastic communicators who enjoy interacting with a wide range of visitors and the ability to connect with diverse audiences- including youth, families, educators, and seniors. Strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, and a passion for storytelling and history are essential.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Complete training and maintain a strong knowledge of the Alamo's history and interpretive best practices.
• Willingness to learn and retain detailed historical information and deliver a comprehensive general tour of the Alamo.
• Provide specialized tours tailored to specific audiences, events, and commemorative dates.
• Adapt tour content and delivery style to effectively connect with various audiences.
• Deliver age-appropriate educational tours aligned with grade-level standards for student groups of all ages.
• Collaborate with Guest Experience and Living History leadership to develop interactive and engaging visitor experiences.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma required.
• Experience in public speaking, teaching, or historical interpretation preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to engage with diverse audiences and speak in front of groups.
• Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and educators.
