Job Description

BME Fire Trucks is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to be part of our Engineering Team. We are a locally owned Fire Truck manufacturer in Boise, Idaho. BME manufactures wildland fire apparatus used in the US and Canada for wildland fire suppression. As an Electrical Designer, you will be providing full electrical diagrams, circuit descriptions, manufacturing instructions and coordinating with other engineering teams to cover cross-principle demands of each design. Other responsibilities are demonstrating engagement with outside departments for collaboration and development of new ideas, providing solutions to meet customer needs and complete documentation throughout the build. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with significant experience in a contributor role who values attention to detail and productivity in a close-knit team environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Produce instructions/diagrams for electrical circuit designs & manufacturing instructions, detailed to each specification
  • Collaborate with project managers, CPQ development team and production leads to create custom solutions to existing problems
  • Database management of bills of material, for assemblies and individual parts in quoting system
  • Documentation control through established release and revision process
  • Service and manufacturing drafting or design support as required
Requirements:

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Associates degree (A.S) in Electrical Engineering, Controls/Automation/Mechatronic Engineering or related field.
  • Working knowledge of drafting standards and best practices. Prior experience in documentation control a plus.
  • Proficiency in and recent experience with SolidWorks Electrical, SolidWorks, PDM,. Significant experience with sheet metal and weldment design tools a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal, written, and interpersonal.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills, capable of collaborating as well as working independently to keep the ball moving forward with concurrent priorities.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Experience in vehicle design, custom fabrication, and in-house manufacturing a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of electrical principles and electrical circuits.
  • Understanding of relays, diodes, and switches.
  • Ability to diagnose and test circuits after installation.
  • Automotive customization knowledge a plus.
  • Ability to pick up job specific knowledge and desire to learn.
  • Can-do attitude and ability to adapt to changing demands.
  • Ability to follow through on tasks and projects ATC (accurately, timely and completely).
