Job Description

Position Summary

The Contracts and Materials Director will be responsible for leadership, strategic direction and execution for Program Management, Production Control, Purchasing, Subcontracting, Inventory Management and Shipping/Receiving functions. As a primary responsibility, this position takes the lead role in contract negotiations with key customers and suppliers to ensure contracts are in alignment with our company vision and meet corporate standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Negotiate long term contracts with customers and suppliers, including favorable terms and conditions that align with corporate strategies. This includes, but is not limited to initial contracts, contract extensions, renewals, and terminations.
  • Annual review of all contracts to ensure accurate pricing with customers, and accurate costing with suppliers.
  • Manage relationships with key customers and suppliers and communicate effectively to ensure the best interests of the company are being met at all times.
  • Develop and implement Supply Chain strategies and related systems through effective long-range strategic planning, including offloading strategies, cost reduction, supplier selection and monitoring, and supplier risk management.
  • Establish and maintain sales forecasts.
  • Participate in annual budgeting process and re-forecasts by providing sales, material and processing costs and any other inputs that affect gross margins.
  • Monitor department expense budgets.
  • Perform financial cost analysis of customer programs to ensure targets are met and implement countermeasures to resolve any disparity.
  • Evaluate program performance, identify opportunities to improve cost, quality and delivery and prioritize initiatives to maximize results.
  • Ensure the MRP system is being optimized to meet capacity, efficiency, customer delivery commitments and drumbeat goals.
  • Ensure the MRP data integrity is accurate to support reliability Implement appropriate scheduling techniques to optimize capacity utilization while meeting customer commitments.
  • Assure that all internal and external processes, procedures and actions are compliant with AS9100 and customer standards.
  • Champion continuous improvement events to streamline processes, improve quality, decrease cost and improve throughput.
  • Selection, development, performance management, safety and motivation of a team of up to 15 employees. Align team and individual goals with company initiatives and holding employees accountable to our Workplace Expectations standards.
  • Model our Workplace Expectations, including those established for Leadership positions.
  • Domestic and international travel to customer and supplier sites.

Position Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years experience in aerospace contracts or program management working with high profile customers. Extensive experience with contract negotiation, interpretation and program management. Successful, progressive leadership career with proven track record of leading and developing a team of professionals. BA/BS degree required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively negotiate complex, long-term contracts - including terms and conditions.
  • Working knowledge of MRP systems and functionality from customer order entry to shipping.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing as well as prepare and deliver formal presentations.
  • Engage customers through social interactions and positive relations.
  • Effectively lead and direct a team.
  • Ability to think strategically, develop a vision and implement successfully.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, tools and strategies.
  • MRP and MS Office Computer Skills
