JOB TITLE: Clinical Supervisor/RN
DEPARTMENT: Trauma Services/Emergency Department
REPORTS TO: Emergency Department Director
JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Supervisor/RN for the Emergency Department (ED) and Trauma Services is responsible for leading and managing both clinical and administrative operations within the department. This role includes oversight of human resources, financial performance, and alignment with the hospital’s mission and goals. The Clinical Supervisor collaborates with other hospital departments, teams, and functions to ensure coordinated, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care, as well as the effective operation of hospital-wide systems.
Additionally, this position is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and directing ED and Trauma Services staff to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality patient care. The Clinical Supervisor/RN must also be capable of working within the assigned unit and fulfilling the roles of Trauma Coordinator and Trauma Registrar as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Current Wyoming licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. Prefer Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in hospital nursing with one year of ER and/or ICU experience is required.

- Must possess a high degree of confidentiality in all matters with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with staff and public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner.
- Must have a good knowledge of emergency and critical care nursing (both medical and surgical nursing principles), and a strong ability in performance of nursing procedures.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control principles.
- Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions
- Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations.
- Must be well motivated, organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Must be able to write policies and procedures.
- A strong attention to detail is an absolute requirement for all job functions.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong computer and keyboarding skills.
- Must have ability to learn and use Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Outlook.
- Ability to learn new computer software applications.
- Thorough knowledge of current ICD coding system and AIS coding system.
- Must have the ability to complete coding within predetermined period and accurately assign codes.
- Knowledge of the charge master and manual coding skills.
- Become proficient with Wyoming State Trauma Image Trends Registry.
- Able to assume a leadership role and serve as an example to other employees.
- Must be able to work independently and to complete job functions in a timely manner.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC (AHA). CEN or CCRN certifications are desired.
