About the Role:

The Controls Engineer will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining advanced control systems that optimize industrial processes, particularly in filtration and process automation environments. This position requires the integration of PLC programming and instrumentation to ensure seamless operation and high reliability of automated systems. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement control strategies that improve efficiency, safety, and product quality. They will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving control system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and continuous process improvement. Ultimately, the Controls Engineer will contribute to the advancement of automation technologies that support the organization's operational goals across various facilities in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience programming Allen-Bradley PLCs using Ladder Logic in an industrial environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Wonderware HMI/SCADA software for control system visualization and operator interface development.
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation and process automation principles, particularly in filtration or similar process industries.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and control system schematics and technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant industry certifications in controls or automation.
  • Experience with other PLC platforms and programming languages beyond Allen-Bradley and Ladder Logic.
  • Familiarity with network communications protocols used in industrial automation such as Ethernet/IP or Modbus.
  • Knowledge of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and compliance with industry safety standards.
  • Previous experience working in multi-site operations within the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, program, and maintain PLC control systems using Allen-Bradley platforms and Ladder Logic to automate industrial processes.
  • Design and implement HMI solutions using Wonderware software to provide intuitive operator interfaces and real-time process monitoring.
  • Collaborate with instrumentation engineers to integrate sensors and control devices, ensuring accurate data acquisition and system responsiveness.
  • Perform system testing, commissioning, and validation to guarantee control system performance meets design specifications and safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control system malfunctions promptly to minimize production downtime and maintain process continuity.
  • Document control system designs, modifications, and procedures to support maintenance and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing process data and recommending automation enhancements.
