About This Position

Position Description:

The Compliance Specialist is a key member of the Lever1 Team, working closely with internal departments and clients to ensure Lever1 maintains its accreditations and remains in good standing in all states of operation. This role ensures clients are supported in meeting both federal and state regulatory requirements by maintaining compliance standards, administering insurance policies, and supporting quality control processes that uphold the performance and integrity of Lever1s PEO operations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage and assist in maintaining Lever1s accreditation and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements
  • Manage and assist with the entire workers compensation process, including proofing of rates, payment of invoices, and ensuring accurate billing to clients
  • Develop and deliver employee training on compliance policies, procedures, and reporting systems
  • Identify, investigate, and report compliance issues, irregularities, and potential violations
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of compliance activities
  • Manage and assist with the unemployment claims process
  • Coordinate with the tax team to ensure client tax filings are accurate and timely
  • Prepare and file applicable state reports and registrations
  • Communicate effectively with federal, state, and local agencies
  • Oversee new hire and termination reporting as required by individual states
  • Advise leadership and management on compliance-related matters and emerging risks

Required and Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in business, finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a compliance-related role
  • Familiarity with laws, legal codes, procedures, and regulatory frameworks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with emphasis on data analysis and reporting
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
