About This Position

Please be advised that the selected candidate for the position will initially assume the role of Fire Recruit. Upon successful completion of the Fire Recruit Academy, the individual will be promoted to the role of Firefighter Paramedic. The Fire Recruit Academy is anticipated to last approximately 2 months.
$97,323.20 Annually
It is imperative to note that possession of a valid Paramedic license is a mandatory requirement prior to the commencement of the Fire Recruit Academy (Anticipated Dates: April 6, 2026 - June 8, 2026). Therefore, applicants are expected to hold a current Paramedic license at the time of application or provide proof that a Paramedic License will be obtained before April 6, 2026.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Responds to emergency and routine alarms as part of a firefighting team, lays hose, sets ladders, ventilates buildings, and performs salvage/overhaul functions
- Provides basic and advanced life support services to ill and injured persons in accordance with policies and protocols
- Compiles necessary reports
- Attends all workshops and continuing education classes required to maintain Paramedic certification
- Performs routine maintenance of assigned station, apparatus, and related equipment
- Assists in fire safety inspections of buildings for adherence to regulations or in emergency pre-planning activities
- Participates in scheduled drills and training activities
- Performs other related duties

Firefighter Paramedic Job Description
At the time of application:
- Successful completion of an accredited California State Fire Academy or possession of a Firefighter I certificate issued by the California Office of the State Fire Marshal, or verifiable out-of-state equivalent
- State of California Paramedic License or Nationally Registered Paramedic Certificate (Formerly known as NREMT-P)
- CPAT or Biddle Certification - Completion of a CPAT or Biddle test within 12 months prior to hire is required
- Proof of American Heart Association ACLS & BLS certifications
- Proof of San Bernardino County Paramedic Accreditation (ICEMA) (District will sponsor successful candidates to meet ICEMA requirements)
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school graduate/GED equivalent
- Possession and satisfactory maintenance of a valid Class C driver's license, or officially recognized equivalent
Failure to provide required documentation will result in disqualification from the selection process.

CPAT or BIDDLE CERTIFICATION:
Completion of a CPAT or Biddle Test within 12 months prior to hire is required. Proof must be provided prior to job offer.
