Job Description
We are currently hiring for an Engineering Coordinator to join our team in Ottawa. The role will entail:
Primary Responsibilities
- Tracks, expedites, schedules, monitors and reports on all phases of Engineering development and NPI projects being built in Production and / or Engineering labs.
- Prepares summaries/status reports on individual project performance; high-lights problems that may affect completion of activities as defined by schedule; initiates discussion of issues to determine solutions.
- Attends project review meetings to report on Engineering project progress. Follows-up and expedites activities failing to meet Engineering schedule and stop orders ensuring corrective action is implemented without delay.
- Liaises with all departments involved in procurement of parts and assemblies from Production for Engineering projects: assists in expediting materials with SCM to mitigate issues e.g. late delivery; works with receiving and QC to ensure materials move smoothly to next stage; interface between M.R.B. and Engineering to ensure rejected parts are reviewed encouraging maximum acceptance. Assist Engineering with R&O investigations and coordination.
- Ensures Fault Reports are generated when problems, improvements or cost reductions are noted against parts or assemblies;
- Assists in developing project Technical Data Packages (TDP), as required; retrieves data packages, collects test data and helps project team generate documents.
- Convenes and chairs meetings to coordinate assignments; may take and maintain minutes when required.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Equivalent to a Grade 12 level at an Ontario secondary school plus one year of formal full-time education in relevant courses including successful completion of all APICS CPIM courses.
- Over 4 years up to and including 6 years experience in a production / Engineering build environment or SCM including planning, scheduling and stock control. Good knowledge of spreadsheet and project management software.
Effort and Working Environment
Physical Effort
Minimal physical effort. Sits to perform work on computer with minimal/limited repetitive hand/finger movement. Walks within department and plant/receiving areas.
Sensory Effort
- Significant visual attention and concentration moderately required for e.g. reading, reasoning, comparing, listening, matching, inspecting, validation, analysis of data.
Working Environment
- General office environment. Multiple and/or tight deadlines; high volume. Frequent interruptions.
Security
It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.

The hiring range for this position is $31.19 - 35.14 CAD hourly. This is a 40 hour work week.
