About This Position
Summary
The Invasive Cardiovascular Technician is a professional member of the Cardiac Cath Lab (CCL) who functions within the perioperative role in providing care to cardiac patients. This individual will participate in activities to achieve department, hospital, and professional objectives.
The Invasive Technologist functions in a perioperative role in providing care to patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab. These procedures include cardiac cath without intervention, permanent/temporary pacemaker insertion, ICD implantation, IVC filters, generator changes, and peripheral angiography (with or without intervention). This role will start peripheral IV's and pull arterial sheaths. Assists in emergency insertion of IABP and short-term care of the patient.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Graduate from an accredited school of Radiology
- Must complete CCL orientation, competency skills, BCLS, and ACLS within 6 months of hire
- Ability to read cardiac monitors, knowledge of treatment of arrhythmia and IABP placement
- Self-motivated
- Ability to work well with staff and physicians
Required Length and Type of Experience
- Two years of previous CCL experience, preferred
- Prefer Cardiac Cath Lab experience
Required Licensure and Certification
- Must be a Registered Technologist (ARRT), state of Ohio license is required
- Must complete orientation and maintain BCLS and ACLS providership
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
Requires ability to lift and move supplies, patients, and carts. Needs to be able to hold hand pressure over arterial site for 20 minutes. Must be able to stand in OR type environment for several hours and work in a physically demanding atmosphere.
