Test Sports Official at City of New Brighton (MN) – New Brighton , Minnesota

Adult Sports Officials officiate recreational and competitive adult sports leagues and instruct players on game rules while providing a safe and fun environment for participants. Games are played by participants over the age of 18. Sports may include softball, volleyball, soccer, etc. depending on time of year.

• Know, understand, follow and enforce all program policies, rules, and regulations.
• Officiate adult sports leagues according to league appropriate handbooks and uses judgement to maintain fairness.
• Maintain an enthusiastic, fun and educational environment during league games.
• Communicate with players, coaches and spectators in a professional manner.
• Correct play and explain game rules to players.
• Responsible for attending all trainings, workshops, and staff meetings.
• Ensure a positive playing environment while maintaining control.
• Assists in keeping records and preparing reports such as incident and accident reports.
• Adhere to work schedule and hours assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• One year of experience playing and/or officiating competitive sports
• American Red Cross CPR/FA/AED Certification within 60 days of hire
• Heads Up Concussion Certification within 60 days of hire
• Knowledge of various sports rules, such as softball or volleyball

• More than one year of experience playing and/or officiating competitive sports
• Experience working/volunteering with adults or in a sport setting
• Referee/sports official certification from a credible organization
