Job Title
Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)
Job Summary
The Athletic Trainer participates in the delivery of patient care within the guidelines and policies of Northfield Hospital + Clinics. Carries out patient care tasks as directed by providers and nurses, maintains supplies and equipment, and accurately communicates with patients and all members of the healthcare team. This position provides age-specific and developmentally appropriate care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is $27.74–$39.16. This range reflects the base salary for this position.
Key Accountabilities
Patient care
  • Prepares exam and treatment rooms prior to patient visit.
  • Prepares charts for appointments and reviews for pertinent information for the appointment.
  • Rooms patient and prepares patient for exams, tests and procedures. Obtains and accurately records necessary vital signs and physical measurements.
  • Prepares, administers and records medications per policy and established procedures.
  • Assists provider as needed.
  • Performs medical office procedures as ordered by the Provider.
  • Applies splints, casts, braces. Works with patient to ensure correct fit with braces.
  • Collects lab specimens and completes order requisitions in accordance with hospital and clinic lab policies.
  • Monitors providers’ orders to ensure orders are completed.
  • Completes orders as directed by provider for labs, X-rays and other services.
  • Works with provider, patient, or parent to complete needed paperwork.
Communication
  • Communicates pertinent information to providers and healthcare team.
  • Informs medical/nursing team when a patient has urgent needs and/or a changing condition.
  • Relays test results accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Accurately communicates and records information in a timely manner.
Equipment and supplies
  • Ensures equipment and supplies are available and adequately stocked for patient care.
  • Properly cleans exam rooms and equipment.
Required Qualifications
  • Certified through the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers
  • Licensed by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice
  • A Bachelor's degree is required for certification prior to December 31, 2022. A Master’s Degree is required for certification after January 1, 2023.
  • Current BLS must be enrolled in NH+C RQI program and complete the requirements within 90 days of enrollment. Must remain current (complete quarterly assignments prior to the end of each calendar quarter)
  • Complete required de-escalation and crisis prevention training upon hire and on an annual basis, including adherence to NH+C reporting standards, preparedness protocols, and response procedures.
  • Workplace Violence education in New Employee Orientation and annually thereafter.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently to ensure safe and effective communication in a healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of clinical practice experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal English
  • Electronic medical record experience
