  • Compensation: Starting pay begins at $33.44 per hour, with competitive rates based on experience, education, and certifications.
  • Schedule: Full-time, variable shifts; nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations required.

What You’ll Do as a CT Technologist
  • Perform high-quality CT examinations using established imaging protocols and clinical judgment.

  • Ensure patient safety through proper identification, positioning, shielding, and adherence to radiation safety standards.

  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain CT scanners and associated equipment.

  • Document procedures, enter exam details, and maintain accurate records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

  • Partner with radiologists and clinical staff to support timely imaging and accurate interpretation.

  • Provide clear instructions and compassionate support to patients throughout imaging procedures.

  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.

  • Promote a positive, professional work environment aligned with UNC Health Appalachian’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Graduate of an AMA-accredited radiologic sciences program.

  • Applicable registry credential required; R-CT preferred.

Experience:

  • Clinical imaging experience gained through an AMA-accredited training program.

  • One year of diagnostic radiology experience preferred.

  • Ability to complete the CT Technologist Level II orientation program.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • CT registry required within two years of achieving Level II competency.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required at hire.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to provide patient-centered care.

  • Proficiency in radiation safety, imaging protocols, and equipment operation.

  • Ability to deliver safe, accurate imaging within licensure and hospital policies.

  • Excellent customer service and teamwork abilities.

Physical & Work Environment
  • Standing and walking for 8+ hours per shift.

  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying 50+ lbs.

  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching.

  • Exposure to vibration, cramped spaces, and both ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.

  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, and hospital equipment risks.

  • Irregular hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities.
