We're looking for a hands-on Warehouse Team Lead to support our daily warehouse operations, with a strong focus on receiving, accurate product labelling, inventory control, organization, and safe operation of a Counterbalance Electric Forklift.
This is a working leadership position. You'll lead by example, work alongside the team, and help ensure products are received, labelled, stored, picked, and distributed accurately, safely, and efficiently.
What you'll doReceiving & Inventory• Lead and support daily receiving, verifying incoming shipments against purchase orders and receiving documentation
• Inspect deliveries for product, quantity, quality, condition, temperature, and accuracy before accepting and storing inventory
• Accurately receive products within our inventory/ERP system and investigate discrepancies
• Communicate shortages, damages, incorrect deliveries, and receiving concerns promptly
• Work with Purchasing, Production, retail stores, vendors, and other internal teams to resolve inventory issues
• Support inventory counts, product rotation, replenishment, and overall inventory accuracy
• Maintain organized receiving, cooler, freezer, dry storage, and staging areas
• Ensure incoming and outgoing products are accurately labelled, dated, identified, and stored in the correct location
• Print, verify, and apply product, inventory, location, and shipping labels as required
• Review product codes, descriptions, quantities, dates, and store/destination information for accuracy
• Ensure products can be easily identified and traced throughout the warehouse
• Correct labelling errors promptly and coach team members on proper procedures
• Support improvements to labelling and inventory processes to reduce errors and increase efficiency
• Perform and oversee shipping and receiving, picking, packing, put-away, staging, quality checks, and order preparation
• Ensure store and production orders are picked accurately and prepared for distribution on time
• Safely operate a Counterbalance Electric Forklift, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment
• Load, unload, move, stack, and organize pallets safely and efficiently
• Maintain proper FIFO rotation and storage procedures
• Keep the warehouse clean, organized, safe, and inspection-ready
• Support retail stores and other Summerhill Market operations as required
• Provide day-to-day direction and support to Warehouse team members
• Assign work, communicate priorities, and ensure daily tasks are completed accurately and on time
• Train and coach employees on receiving, labelling, inventory, equipment operation, food safety, and warehouse procedures
• Lead by example with an all-hands-on-deck approach to daily operations
• Identify operational challenges, communicate concerns, and help develop practical solutions
• Support SOP development, employee training records, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Promote a safe working environment and ensure warehouse health and safety procedures are consistently followed
• Ensure forklifts and warehouse equipment are operated safely and required inspections are completed
• Identify and report hazards, damaged equipment, unsafe storage, or other workplace concerns
• Follow food safety, sanitation, temperature control, and workplace health and safety requirements
• Previous experience in warehouse, receiving, inventory, distribution, grocery, or food and beverage operations
• Previous Team Lead, Supervisor, or senior warehouse experience preferred
• Minimum 2 years of forklift experience preferred; Counterbalance Electric Forklift certification/licence is a strong asset
• Strong experience with receiving, product labelling, inventory control, picking/packing, and put-away
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Comfortable working with ERP/inventory systems, computers, scanners, and label-printing systems
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
• Able to prioritize effectively and work with urgency in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working independently while leading and supporting a small team
• Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, and safely lifting up to 50 lbs
• Food Handler Certification is an asset
