Job Description
COMPANY OVERVIEW:
JENNMAR is looking to fill the position of Shipping/Receiver for at its plant located in Sudbury, Canada. At JENNMAR fabrication takes place in our more than twenty strategically located manufacturing facilities associated with our affiliated brands. From bolts and beams to channels and trusses, to resin and rebar, and more, JENNMAR is uniquely positioned to accommodate our customers’ industrial fabrication needs.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma/GED Required
- Minimum two to four (2-4) years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Supervisory Experience, A Plus
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Issue written and oral instructions to direct, supervise and evaluate shipping operations through personnel and operational management and interdepartmental communication
- Assist in recruiting and hiring shipping department personnel
- Coordinates and monitors staffing and workload to ensure compliance with customer loading requirements and timely shipment of customer orders
- Securing carriers to cover loads
- Inspects, labels and packages materials for shipment.
- Loads and unloads freight carriers.
- Assist in inventory control.
- Follow all Tracker recording procedures.
- Performs required quality checks and maintains documentation
- Follows all safety policies and operations procedures
- Liaison between workers and management and report on shipping activities and issues
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficient in information gathering and monitoring skills to facilitate effective, unbiased decision-making and problem-solving functions.
- Ability to understand instructions and underlying principles of shipping operations to reason and make judgements to meet deadlines in a high-volume steel processing environment.
- Ability to implement quality/safety procedures and guidelines during all phases of shipping operations.
- Exercise listening, verbal and written communication skills to facilitate interdepartmental interactions as needed to ensure customer satisfaction with shipped products.
- Possess organizational skills to implement shipping schedules to maintain proper warehouse inventory levels.
- Customer service competency to respond promptly to internal/external requests for service and assistance.
- Ability to process, maintain and disburse confidential and sensitive information.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with ability to learn and use specific ERP software and other manufacturing software systems relevant to financial and shipping processes.
- Possess a “Team” mentality with ability to equitably coordinate, delegate, and monitor the work of others.
- Dependability to consistently be a work and on time with ability to work a flexible schedule as required.
