Sr Gas-Phase Polyethylene (GPPE ) Process Technology Design Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Gas-Phase Polyethylene (GPPE) Process Technology Design Engineer based in the United States.

This is a senior technical engineering opportunity focused on advancing and supporting gas-phase polyethylene process technology.
You will provide specialized expertise across plant startups, reactor performance, process design, technology development, and continuous improvement.
The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership across projects, proposals, licensed facilities, and global technology offerings.
You will use plant performance data and advanced modeling techniques to refine reactor models and optimize process performance.
The position also involves developing cost-effective CAPEX and OPEX improvements while maintaining safety, operability, intellectual property, and performance requirements.
You will collaborate with project teams, technology partners, and international stakeholders to ensure consistent and effective application of core technology.
This contract engagement is well suited to an experienced GPPE specialist who can independently solve complex engineering challenges and contribute to high-value process technology initiatives.

Accountabilities:
  • Serve as a senior gas-phase polyethylene process technology design engineer, providing technical support for tuning during and after licensed plant startups.
  • Apply deep GPPE process technology and operational expertise to resolve complex, unusual, or technically challenging engineering and design problems.
  • Support continuous improvement of polyethylene products, reactor technology, capacity offerings, and technical solutions used in worldwide licensing activities.
  • Provide technical leadership for license bids and proposals, helping ensure process technology offerings are accurate, competitive, and technically sound.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure core GPPE technology is consistently and effectively incorporated into engineering and project execution.
  • Develop, standardize, maintain, and continuously improve technology documentation, including commissioning guidelines, training packages, project manuals, and other technical materials.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for product and technology partners involved in licensed technology offerings and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a senior process design engineer on assigned projects and proposals, providing technical guidance and engineering deliverables.
  • Participate in plant startup and warranty initiatives, interpreting plant performance data and refining reactor models based on actual operating results.
  • Develop cost-effective CAPEX and OPEX improvements to core GPPE technology offerings while considering scalability and applicability across future projects.
  • Evaluate technology solutions for safety, operability, and warranted performance requirements.
  • Support the protection of proprietary technology and help ensure that technology offerings appropriately address intellectual property considerations.
  • Maintain awareness of technology performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to the continued development of GPPE process capabilities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary and international teams to deliver technical solutions within project timelines and budget expectations.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in GPPE reactor modeling and/or GPPE reactor-unit-operation process engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in GPPE plant operations is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of gas-phase polyethylene process technology, reactor operations, and process engineering principles.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with advanced process simulation tools and engineering software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to evaluate complex technical issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Experience interpreting plant performance data and applying operational insights to process models and technology improvements.
  • Ability to contribute effectively to engineering projects, proposals, technology development, and plant startup activities.
  • Strong understanding of process safety, operability, performance requirements, and engineering best practices.
  • Ability to manage complex technical assignments while maintaining quality, schedules, and budget considerations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and technology partners.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without requiring employment sponsorship.
Benefits:
  • Contract engagement: Initial estimated contract duration of approximately 6 months.
  • Location flexibility: Opportunity to work remotely from within the United States or from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
  • Opportunity to contribute to advanced gas-phase polyethylene technology and large-scale industrial processing facilities.
  • Exposure to international projects, plant startups, technology licensing, and multidisciplinary engineering initiatives.
  • Senior-level technical ownership across process design, reactor modeling, technology development, and continuous improvement.
  • Opportunity to influence CAPEX/OPEX optimization, process performance, safety, operability, and future technology offerings.
  • International travel opportunities associated with plant startups, projects, and technology activities.
