Location: Newport Beach, CA (Oasis Senior Center)
Hours: Part Time/ Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM (25 hours per week)
Hourly Range: $17.50 - $20.50 per hour (Hourly rate will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience).
JOB SUMMARY:
The Congregate Site Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Dining Program, including coordinating meal service, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, managing supplies and supporting participants' services. The Site Coordinator supervises staff, and volunteers, promotes program participation and community engagement, maintains accurate records, and ensures services are delivered in accordance with Meals on Wheel OC policies and procedure and program standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages kitchen, food, and serving supplies, including ordering, receiving, proper storage, and securing supplies at the end of each day.
- Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of staff and volunteer workers.
- Organizes and implements a variety of daily programs for participants to include educational speakers and classes, health and physical fitness, safety and security issues, music, entertainment, and other programs which participants request.
- Ensures meal service quality and food safety by checking food deliveries for accuracy and completeness, monitoring food temperatures, maintaining temperature control records, and ensuring kitchen work surfaces are properly cleaned and sanitized.
- Practices safe operating procedures and observes all safety regulations and precautions as prescribed by Meals on Wheels OC.
- Maintains records and statistical information related to personnel, expenses, participant attendance, donations staff and volunteer outreach efforts. Prepares accurate and timely reports related to same.
- Responsible for proper handling of meal and community donations according to Meals on Wheels OC policy guidelines and making bank deposits in a timely fashion.
- Supports outreach, public relations, and community partnership efforts to increase program attendance, represent the Meals on Wheels OC Dining Program, and develop effective working relationships with community groups and public and private agencies involved in the delivery of human services.
- Identifies senior needs for supportive services and provides appropriate referrals to Meals on Wheels OC-sponsored programs, as well as other public and private sector community and human services programs.
- Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Performs other duties and assignments related to this job as deemed necessary and appropriate.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in human services, social services, hospitality, nutrition, business administration, or a related field preferred; comparable work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Minimum of one year of experience coordinating programs, meal services, community services, or related operations preferred.
- Experience working with older adults, program participants, or diverse community members in customer service, nonprofit, food service, or human services setting preferred.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, data, reports, attendance information, and related documentation.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Experience supervising and directing staff and volunteers (volunteer work included) is a plus.
- Must be able to work well with people of all ages, especially elderly people.
- Basic computer skills or experience using databases, spreadsheets, or similar systems.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequently stands, walks, and moves throughout the dining site to coordinate meal service, participant activities, and program operations.
- Frequently uses hands and arms to handle, reach for, carry, set up, and store food, supplies, equipment, paperwork, and related materials.
- Frequently operates standard office equipment, computers, phones, kitchen equipment, serving tools, and other program-related equipment.
- Frequently observes food quality, supply levels, participant needs, safety conditions, and overall dining site operations.
- Occasionally bends, reaches, stoops, kneels, climbs, or positions self as needed to complete set-up, clean-up, storage, and other essential duties.
- Occasionally pushes, pulls, lifts, carries, moves, or positions supplies, containers, equipment, tables, chairs, and other items weighing up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
- Must be able to work in a food service and dining environment, including exposure to food odors, temperature changes, cleaning products, and moderate noise levels.
