Payment Posting Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Payment Posting Specialist based in the United States.

This remote, full-time role supports accurate and timely payment processing across healthcare revenue cycle operations.
You will manage payment activity for a portfolio of healthcare facilities and clients while maintaining established turnaround and month-end deadlines.
The position requires strong attention to detail when processing electronic and manual insurance remittances.
You will play an important role in ensuring payments, adjustments, denials, and patient responsibilities are posted accurately and balanced correctly.
The environment is collaborative, fast-paced, and focused on delivering dependable financial support to healthcare providers nationwide.
Success requires strong knowledge of payer processes, EOB interpretation, reconciliation, and healthcare billing standards.
This is an opportunity to contribute directly to efficient and compliant revenue cycle operations while working remotely.

Accountabilities
  • Manage payment posting activities for an assigned portfolio of approximately 13–14 healthcare facilities or clients while consistently meeting established six-day turnaround requirements.
  • Post accounts payable deposits accurately and ensure all current-month deposits are processed within required month-end deadlines.
  • Process electronic 835 files and manual payer EOBs, including insurance allowable amounts, patient responsibilities, denials, adjustments, contractual allowances, recoupments, and forward balancing.
  • Review and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOB) remittance codes and apply appropriate denial codes accurately.
  • Balance and close payment batches in a timely and accurate manner, maintaining strong reconciliation standards.
  • Navigate payer and other relevant websites to obtain EOBs and supporting payment documentation.
  • Ensure payment activity complies with applicable healthcare billing laws, regulations, policies, and established procedures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment to resolve issues and maintain service standards.
  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience posting insurance payments in a healthcare or revenue cycle environment.
  • At least 2 years of experience reading and interpreting insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements is preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of insurance payer types and healthcare payment processes.
  • Strong understanding of EOB statements, remittance information, denials, adjustments, and contractual allowances.
  • Demonstrated balancing and reconciliation skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong 10-key calculator and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and billing policies.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work professionally with diverse individuals.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, particularly when managing multiple client assignments and deadlines.
  • Flexibility and adaptability when working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to contribute effectively as part of a distributed team.
