Our manufacturing facility, located in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, produces value added fruit and dairy preparations for a variety of customers including yogurt, ice cream and bakery manufacturers.

The position is for 3rd shift 10pm – 6am.

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring that production equipment is always running, for maintaining and performing PM tasks on production equipment and undertaking various mechanical tasks, as necessary. In addition, the Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining building equipment and any other miscellaneous duties as assigned.  In this position you will be required to become a member of the Union.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide technicalassistancewhen electrical or control issues arise. Maintain and perform PM tasks on the Production Equipment. Assemble electrical or control systems and equipment according to applicable NEC andstate/local codes using hand tools and measuring instruments. 
  • Build, calibrate,maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical / pneumatic / hydraulic / measuring devices / recording /indicatinginstruments or testing equipment.  
  • The ability to troubleshoot & understand PLC programs & the corresponding hardware. 
  • Assembly and test motor control devices (480 V and lower).
  • Read electrical schematics. Must be able to install devices according to these schematics and troubleshoot issues for efficient and effective repairs. 
  • Will berequiredtoparticipatein confined space entries and repairs and make repairs on roof top equipment and bulk sugar silos.  
  • Perform equipment repairs in difficult,tight,and awkward areas. (Inside tanks, underand oron top of tanks andplatforms). 
  • Must havea minimumbasic welding and plumbing knowledge. 
  • Coordinate tasks andcommunicatesall changes or improvements to equipment to maintenance manager and senior management. 
  • Be able to lift equipment and parts weighing up to 50 lbs.

Specific Experience and Key Knowledge Requirements 

  • Minimum of 3yearsofexperience ina productionmaintenance department.

Special Skills and Abilities Required

  • Working knowledge of PLC and Siemens Allen Bradley control systems.
  • Working knowledge with boilers and refrigeration systems. 
  • Must have working knowledge of the following topics: Temperature, pressure, AC and DC control methods, 24V – 480V electrical systems and troubleshooting, VFD’s, automated systems, load cells, control valves, blueprint reading, mathematics, preventive/predictive maintenance, PLC, and Motor Controls. 
  • Experience in computer skills: Excel, Outlook, SAP (Preferred) along with excellent verbal and written communication skills and must be a team player. 
  • Experience with suppliers, vendors, and working with various departments.
