Job Description
Position Summary
The Machine Builder is responsible for the assembly, construction, rebuilding, and repair of industrial machinery and equipment. This role requires the ability to interpret engineering documentation and ensure precise mechanical fit and function. The Machine Builder works from blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications to execute high-quality machine builds in accordance with engineering and operational standards
Essential Functions
- Fits and assembles mechanical components in accordance with assembly blueprints, manuals, engineering memos, and sketches using appropriate hand and power tools and applying advanced knowledge of machine construction.
- Reads, interprets, and applies technical documentation and schematics including hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical diagrams to plan, build, troubleshoot, and verify machine and system functionality.
- Constructs, rebuilds, and aligns machinery and equipment to meet engineering specifications, ensuring proper integration and operation of mechanical and fluid power systems while maintaining accuracy, quality, and adherence to project requirements.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the department and business operations.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 5+ years of work experience in the field
- Vocational/Technical training in manufacturing procedures preferred
- Must have own hand tools
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications. Capable of preparing reports and business correspondence, and effectively communicating with managers, customers, and team members, including those in international settings.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations involving mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Capable of interpreting complex technical instructions in various formats and managing both abstract and concrete variables.
- Computer Skills: Basic proficiency with Windows operating systems and CAD drawing viewers (e.g., Vault or similar tools)
