Position Summary
The Product Molder & Painter performs preparation work prior to painting, such as repairing surface defects sanding and cleaning. Then The Equipment Operator paints parts to completion.
Responsibilities
• Applies masking tape or other material over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
• Mix paints and catalyst prior to applying, pouring coating liquid into pressure pot and connects gun to air hose.
• Regulates the width and pressure of spray according to knowledge of painting technique and compliance spraying the work surface to apply prime or finish coat.
• Cleans spraying equipment with solvent using proper personal protection and maintains a clean and safe work environment.
• Required to operate oven to cure and dry, as well as perform paint touch up.
• Cleans grease and dirt from product using various products depending on the situation.
• Fills, grinds, and sans repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.
• Fills depressions with body filler and may file dings to remove burrs and rough spots to attain smooth surface.
• May prime or paint surfaces after performing body repair.
• Visually examines and feels surface of work piece to achieve required results.
• Performs other work as assigned.
Qualifications
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent
• 1-2 years of recent experience in a paint preparation, painting, sanding and scuffing in the aerospace, automotive field, or manufacturing.
• Knowledge of commonly used safety concepts, practices, and procedures within field
• Ability to read English such as specifications and instructions - such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Good Attention to details
• Must be able to read, write and understand English and follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
• Medically cleared to wear a respirator.
• Must be fit tested for a respirator.
