ASL Interpreter

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an ASL Interpreter in Canada.

In this role, you will provide live American Sign Language interpretation for virtual, instructor-led training programs delivered through online platforms. You will support technical learning sessions in areas such as cybersecurity, data analytics, and IT support, ensuring clear, accurate, and inclusive communication between instructors and participants. Working in a remote and collaborative environment, you will typically operate alongside another interpreter to maintain high-quality coverage during classes. This position plays a key role in making specialized education accessible to Deaf and hard-of-hearing learners. You will contribute directly to learner success by enabling engagement, comprehension, and participation in real-time training. It is an ongoing opportunity within a flexible, remote-first setup focused on educational impact.

Accountabilities:
  • Provide real-time ASL interpretation during live, online instructor-led training sessions delivered via Zoom and similar platforms.
  • Support technical subject matter delivery in areas such as cybersecurity, data analytics, and IT support programs.
  • Collaborate with a second interpreter to ensure accurate, continuous, and seamless interpretation throughout class sessions.
  • Facilitate clear communication between instructors and learners in a fast-paced virtual classroom environment.
  • Maintain high interpretation accuracy while adapting to technical terminology and instructional contexts.
  • Contribute to an inclusive learning experience that supports accessibility and learner engagement.
Requirements:
  • Fluent proficiency in English and American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional ASL interpreting experience in higher education or professional settings.
  • Current national ASL Interpreter certification in good standing.
  • Strong ability to interpret technical and educational content in real time.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative, and virtual classroom environment.
  • Strong professionalism, reliability, and adaptability in live instructional settings.
