Job Description
The Pre-Admission Nurse is to be a clinically competent Registered Nurse. By utilizing the nursing process of assessment of the individual patient and procedure, the Pre-Admission Nurse is responsible for coordinating nursing care for the pre-operative patient through the nursing process. Effectively interacts with the patient, family and significant others and other health team members, while maintaining the standards of professional nursing. Evaluates the educational needs and learning opportunities for all pre-operative patients. Coordinates patient education activities to meet assessed needs of the patient prior to surgery. Addresses the psychosocial and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Communicates with physicians as needed about the patient's diagnosis and condition. Assists with patient follow-up call program. Position requires 4,8 or 10 hour shifts to cover department Monday - Friday 07:00 - 17:00.
Qualifications:
• Graduate from an accredited school or college of nursing required.
• Current New Mexico or compact license as a Registered Nurse required.
• BCLS, ACLS, PALS required.
• Minimum of five years of recent experience in Surgery required.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
