Position Summary

Simple Modern is looking for a motivated and outgoing Sales Development Intern to work alongside our Custom Sales team. This internship will provide hands-on experience in sales, business development, prospecting, and customer relationship building.

The primary focus of this role will be outbound prospecting, including cold calling, email outreach, and identifying potential new customers. The intern will work closely with our custom sales team to learn how to identify prospects, start conversations, understand customer needs, and generate qualified sales opportunities.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in pursuing a career in sales, business development, marketing, or account management and wants practical experience in a fast-paced sales environment.

Key Responsibilities

Outbound Prospecting & New Business Development

- Make outbound cold calls to prospective customers and businesses.

- Research and identify new potential customers

- Send personalized outreach emails and follow up with prospects.

- Use multiple outreach methods to connect with potential customers.

- Learn and apply effective cold-calling and prospecting techniques.

- Comfortable with rejection and doesn't let it slow down the next call

Lead Qualification

- Initiate conversations with prospective customers to learn about their business and needs.

- Ask thoughtful questions to determine whether a prospect may be a good fit for Simple Modern.

- Identify decision-makers and key contacts.

- Communicate the value of Simple Modern's Custom products and capabilities.

- Schedule qualified meetings for members of the sales team.

Sales & CRM Support

- Maintain accurate prospect and contact information in Salesforce.

- Document calls, conversations, follow-ups, and opportunities.

- Assist with keeping prospect lists organized and up to date.

- Track daily and weekly outreach activity.

- Help identify trends and opportunities within prospecting efforts.

Qualifications

- Currently pursuing a degree in business, marketing, communications, sales, or a related field.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Comfortable talking to new people and willing to make cold calls.

- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

- Coachable and receptive to feedback.

- Organized and able to manage multiple follow-ups.

- Self-motivated and able to stay productive independently.

- Resilient and able to handle rejection professionally.

- Competitive and results-oriented mindset.

- Previous sales, customer service, or work experience is a plus, but not required.
