Job Description

If you're a strong writer who enjoys creating content, working across different channels and bringing ideas to life, this could be a great opportunity to put your communications skills to work.

Smart, Savvy + Associates is pleased to partner with the BC Water & Waste Association (BCWWA) in their search for a Communications Coordinator.

BCWWA is a not-for-profit organization representing more than 4,700 water professionals across BC and the Yukon. Through education, training, certification and advocacy, they support the people who help keep our water systems clean, safe and resilient.

In this role, you'll create and deliver communications across social media, e-newsletters, websites, print publications and marketing campaigns. You'll help promote BCWWA's membership, programs, annual conference and industry initiatives while keeping content engaging, accurate and on schedule.

You'll have plenty of opportunities to write, design, create and collaborate, working with colleagues across the organization to bring communications and marketing initiatives to life. You'll join a small, collaborative team that values initiative, creativity and getting things done, with the flexibility of a four-day workweek.

What You'll Do

  • Write, edit and publish content for the website, monthly e-newsletters, membership communications and marketing campaigns.
  • Support editorial planning and production of Watermark, BCWWA's quarterly magazine.
  • Manage social media content and the editorial calendar across LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Create graphics and promotional materials for digital and print, including BCWWA's training programs, events and annual conference.
  • Maintain WordPress website content, applying SEO and accessibility best practices.
  • Track communications performance and recommend ways to improve engagement.
  • Collaborate across teams to coordinate projects, manage deadlines and deliver communications that support organizational priorities.

What You Bring

  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills, with experience creating content for different audiences and channels.
  • Hands-on experience with social media, email marketing, editorial planning and digital communications.
  • Graphic design skills using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite tools such as InDesign, Photoshop or Illustrator.
  • Experience with WordPress, including SEO fundamentals and website accessibility.
  • Familiarity with analytics and using performance data to inform improvements.
  • Strong organizational skills, initiative and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • A collaborative, adaptable approach and a genuine interest in supporting members and stakeholders.
  • Education in communications, marketing, publishing, public relations or a related field.

Nice to Have

  • Short-form video creation and editing experience.
  • Experience in a non-profit, association or small-team environment.
  • Basic HTML knowledge and familiarity with WordPress plugins.
