This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Presales, Systems Engineer - SLED based in the United States.
This remote role serves as a trusted technical advisor to public-sector customers, account teams, and channel partners throughout the sales cycle. You will help organizations modernize, secure, and simplify their networking environments through innovative technology solutions. The position combines deep networking expertise with consultative selling, solution architecture, and customer engagement. You will uncover business and technical needs, design tailored solutions, and communicate their value to both technical and executive audiences. Working across multiple opportunities in a fast-paced sales environment, you will collaborate with specialists and sales leaders to turn complex requirements into successful outcomes. The role also offers opportunities to stay at the forefront of technologies such as SD-WAN, SASE, Zero Trust, AI-driven networking, and cloud-managed infrastructure.
- Partner with account managers and channel partners to develop territory strategies, qualify opportunities, and drive technical wins across assigned public-sector accounts.
- Lead customer discovery sessions to understand business priorities, technical requirements, modernization objectives, and current infrastructure challenges.
- Conduct technical assessments, identify gaps and risks, and develop end-to-end solution approaches spanning campus, branch, wireless, routing, SD-WAN, and security environments.
- Design and position networking solutions that align technology investments with customer outcomes, digital transformation initiatives, and modernization strategies.
- Deliver tailored technical presentations, demonstrations, workshops, and virtual engagements for engineers, decision-makers, and executive stakeholders.
- Support proposals, RFP/RFI responses, bills of materials, technical specifications, and other solution documentation throughout the sales process.
- Collaborate with architects, senior engineers, specialists, sales teams, and partners on complex or multi-domain opportunities.
- Maintain strong technical expertise across wired and wireless networking, routing, data center, security, SASE, and cloud-managed networking technologies.
- Monitor emerging trends including AI-Ops, Zero Trust, Network as a Service, AI-driven networking, and campus fabric evolution, translating relevant developments into customer value.
- Analyze competitive technologies and clearly articulate solution differentiation during customer engagements.
- Build trusted relationships with customers and internal stakeholders while managing multiple opportunities in a high-volume sales environment.
- Continuously strengthen technical and industry expertise through certifications, training, and professional development.
- 5+ years of experience in presales, sales engineering, systems engineering, or another customer-facing technical role with a consultative approach to solving customer challenges.
- Strong knowledge of networking technologies, including campus networking, wireless, routing, WAN, and modern architectures such as SD-WAN, SASE, and Zero Trust.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical discovery, understand customer requirements, and translate business objectives into measurable technology outcomes.
- Hands-on experience designing and architecting solutions and mapping technical capabilities to diverse customer environments.
- Strong presentation, storytelling, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and executive audiences.
- Ability to guide customers through solution evaluation and decision-making by clearly communicating tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations.
- Experience collaborating effectively with account managers, architects, specialists, channel partners, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent opportunities while maintaining strong organization, attention to detail, and responsiveness in a fast-paced sales environment.
- Strong intellectual curiosity and a proactive approach to keeping current with networking technologies, industry developments, and customer needs.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Industry certifications such as Aruba ACA/ACP, Juniper JNCIA, Cisco CCNA, Fortinet FCA/FCP, or CWNA are preferred.
- Remote/teleworker work arrangement, with the role primarily performed from home.
- Annual compensation range of $127,000–$247,000 in Colorado and $120,500–$284,000 in North Carolina and Texas, depending on location, experience, education, skills, and qualifications.
- Compensation includes a 75% base salary / 25% target-level sales compensation mix at 100% achievement of the sales plan.
