Retail Sales Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Retail Sales Manager based in Canada.

This role is responsible for accelerating sales growth and market adoption of innovative agricultural nutrition and bioscience products across Eastern Canada.
You will lead demand-generation initiatives, strengthen customer relationships, and identify opportunities to expand market share.
Working closely with account managers, agronomists, marketing teams, and retail partners, you will develop customer-specific go-to-market strategies.
You will also help translate scientific and agronomic value into compelling commercial opportunities for customers and sales teams.
The role combines strategic sales leadership with hands-on customer engagement, training, field demonstrations, and market development.
Success will require strong commercial judgment, agronomic knowledge, and the ability to influence stakeholders across a dynamic territory.
This is a highly collaborative, field-oriented opportunity with significant autonomy and approximately 60–70% travel.

Accountabilities:
  • Drive sales growth, demand generation, market penetration, and adoption of bioscience and advanced crop nutrition products across the assigned Eastern Canada territory, covering Quebec and the Maritimes.
  • Develop and execute customer-specific go-to-market strategies in partnership with Account Managers, Field Solutions Agronomists, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Build trusted relationships with retail agronomists, sales teams, customers, and other agricultural stakeholders, communicating the agronomic, economic, and profitability benefits of the product portfolio.
  • Partner with agronomy teams to deliver product positioning, technical support, customer training, field days, demonstrations, and customer forums that increase awareness and adoption.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on co-branded campaigns, promotions, customer events, and sales enablement initiatives that strengthen brand awareness and generate demand.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, customer needs, and retail dynamics to identify growth opportunities and inform commercial strategies.
  • Support field trials and demonstrations that validate product performance, generate actionable data, and contribute to successful new product introductions.
  • Use Salesforce and other commercial tools to manage CRM activities, customer engagement, lead management, sales reporting, and documentation of customer training activities.
  • Forecast demand, identify territory opportunities, and contribute to achieving commercial and profitability objectives.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership support to newer retail sales advisors and contribute to key commercial projects and initiatives.
  • Deploy available commercial resources effectively to maximize return on investment and accelerate profitable adoption.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, ethical conduct, and compliance with organizational policies and values.
  • Travel extensively throughout the assigned territory, with approximately 60–70% travel required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Marketing, Agronomy, Soil Science, or a related discipline.
  • 5–7 years of high-level sales and/or marketing experience, preferably within agriculture, agronomy, proprietary products, technology-driven markets, or specialized agricultural services.
  • Professional bilingual fluency in English and French, required for the Eastern Canada territory.
  • Strong understanding of agronomy, agricultural retail trends, and retail business operations.
  • Demonstrated success selling proprietary products, specialized agronomic solutions, technologies, or value-added services.
  • Experience consistently performing at a high level within a sales organization, with the ability to demonstrate strong commercial results.
  • Exceptional customer relationship and consultative selling skills, with the ability to build trust through active listening, responsiveness, and credible advice.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present, train, influence, and communicate complex product value clearly.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities, with sound judgment and a results-oriented approach.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a continually changing business environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-building capabilities, with the ability to collaborate effectively across sales, agronomy, marketing, and other functions.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and provide leadership on strategic projects and commercial initiatives.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Salesforce or comparable CRM platforms is strongly valued.
  • CCA certification is preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 60–70% of the time.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary plus bonus incentives.
  • 11 paid holidays annually.
  • Generous 401(k) plan with company matching and annual company contribution.
  • Paid sick leave.
  • Paid vacation time.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life and disability insurance.
  • Tuition reimbursement.
  • Paid maternity and paternity leave.
  • Equal opportunity workplace committed to diversity and inclusion.
