This is a senior field leadership opportunity supporting a critical federal aviation infrastructure project focused on runway rehabilitation. You will oversee daily construction operations, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual requirements. As the primary field representative, you will work closely with program and project leadership, engineers, government representatives, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. The role requires strong construction expertise across scheduling, quality, safety, cost control, and field coordination. Your leadership will be especially important in an active airfield environment where operational requirements and demanding schedules must be carefully managed. This opportunity is well suited to an experienced construction professional who thrives in complex, high-accountability infrastructure projects.

Accountabilities:
  • Manage and coordinate all field construction activities associated with the runway rehabilitation project.
  • Direct daily construction operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Serve as the primary field representative and coordinate closely with the Program Manager, Project Manager, Site Engineer, subcontractors, government representatives, and project stakeholders.
  • Interface with military personnel, government agencies, utility providers, subcontractors, vendors, and other third parties regarding construction activities.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, schedules, technical documents, and project requirements to support effective execution.
  • Evaluate constructability and recommend improvements to design elements, sequencing, and field execution.
  • Support subcontractor procurement activities, including bidder list preparation, bid evaluations, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate subcontractor schedules, work plans, quality control plans, safety procedures, labor, equipment, and materials to meet project milestones and airfield operational requirements.
  • Determine material quantities, coordinate deliveries, and manage equipment and workforce resources required for construction activities.
  • Monitor daily labor, equipment, materials, and production quantities to support accurate cost and schedule management.
  • Compare approved budgets with actual costs and productivity factors and communicate relevant findings to program leadership.
  • Identify, document, and support the evaluation of scope changes and potential change order conditions.
  • Assist project management with the review and approval of subcontractor invoices.
  • Conduct health and safety oversight and ensure compliance with applicable company, client, OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and project-specific requirements.
  • Monitor construction progress and proactively resolve field issues affecting schedule, quality, safety, or cost performance.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, field logs, inspection records, meeting minutes, and other project documentation.
  • Support project closeout, final turnover documentation, and other responsibilities assigned by program leadership.

Requirements:

  • 8–12 years of progressively responsible experience in construction management, field supervision, site superintendent, or related construction leadership roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience managing heavy civil, transportation, aviation, military, paving, infrastructure, or comparable large-scale construction projects.
  • Experience managing runway, airfield, taxiway, concrete, asphalt, grading, or drainage construction is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience with Department of Defense, USACE, NAVFAC, FAA, or other federal construction projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, project controls, field coordination, and subcontractor management.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, schematics, schedules, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to verify grades and elevations using surveying and laser equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and construction safety practices, with familiarity with EM 385-1-1 preferred.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification required.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification or current 8-Hour HAZWOPER refresher certification preferred.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors, trades, priorities, and deadlines in a demanding field environment.
  • Customer-focused approach with the ability to manage expectations and communicate effectively with government personnel, clients, vendors, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently while providing effective leadership to field personnel.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, nights, weekends, or phased construction schedules when required by airfield operations.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required base access credentials and meet applicable installation security requirements.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with base and matching employer stock contributions.
  • Paid personal, holiday, and parental leave.
  • Life and disability insurance plans.
  • Critical illness and accident coverage.
  • Work/life flexibility.
  • Professional development and career growth opportunities.
  • Opportunity to contribute to a critical federal aviation infrastructure project.
  • Exposure to complex airfield, heavy civil, and federal construction operations.
  • Compensation determined based on experience, education, skill level, and other applicable factors.
