Position Summary
PMA Consultants is seeking an experienced PMT Director to lead an integrated owner’s Project Management Team (PMT) supporting a large, multi-year capital project at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). This position will provide overall leadership and accountability for the delivery of a new systems-intensive catering and industrial facility utilizing Progressive Design-Build.
The PMT Director will serve as the client’s day-to-day owner’s representative and lead the project through planning and mobilization, procurement, design, construction, commissioning, operational readiness and transition, cutover, and closeout. The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience delivering complex capital projects involving multiple stakeholders, specialized building systems, operational constraints, and integrated facility requirements.
This dedicated, full-time position will provide strategic direction to the PMT and serve as the primary interface with project leadership, technical teams, operational stakeholders, airport representatives, and authorities having jurisdiction.

Position Responsibilities- Lead the integrated Project Management Team throughout the full project lifecycle, from mobilization and project definition through procurement, design, construction, commissioning, operational readiness, cutover, and closeout.
- Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan and Project Management Plan, including project governance, delegated authority, escalation protocols, and change control.
- Provide overall leadership for PMT staffing, subconsultants, performance, quality, and continuity.
- Exercise delegated authority and elevate reserved matters for appropriate decision-making, including contingency use, change orders, budget and milestone changes, and material design decisions.
- Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders, including real estate, operations, catering, IT, security, legal, procurement, airport representatives, and authorities having jurisdiction.
- Identify project cost, schedule, and execution risks and develop decision-ready recommendations, mitigation strategies, and recovery options.
- Lead executive-level reporting and stakeholder communications to maintain alignment on project status, risks, decisions, and priorities.
- Oversee project readiness through commissioning, operational transition, and cutover and lead development of the final go/no-go recommendation.
- Represent and lead the project team during proposal interviews, presentations, and case-study exercises, as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 15+ years of experience managing large, complex capital projects, including senior-level owner’s representative, program management, or project management leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Business, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Demonstrated leadership of Progressive Design-Build or similarly collaborative project delivery methods on projects of comparable complexity.
- Experience delivering projects within active airports or similarly operationally constrained environments where ongoing operations must be maintained.
- Working knowledge of airport land-lease requirements, permitting and coordination with authorities having jurisdiction, and CEQA/FAA coordination.
- Experience with commissioning, operational readiness and transition, and operational cutover.
- Demonstrated ability to lead integrated, multi-firm teams and communicate effectively with executive leadership and diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with SFO or major capital projects within the San Francisco Bay Area is strongly preferred.
- PE, RA, PMP, CCM, or equivalent professional credential is preferred.
$198,800 - $248,500 a year
