Position Summary
The Efficiency Coach develops and implements a behavioral change model to support income eligible clients and other area residents in adopting energy efficiency habits and practices. They plan, direct, and directly provide energy conservation education, services, and activities with Weatherization-eligible household in collaboration with Weatherization staff, State agencies, Efficiency Vermont (EVT), and other community organizations offering education and services to improve energy efficiency and conservation skills. The Efficiency Coach organizes and oversees the presentation of an energy efficiency curriculum to local households and community groups in SEVCA's service area.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with Efficiency Vermont (EVT) to identify and enroll potential clients and provide income eligible Energy Efficiency Program (LEEP) services, materials and equipment to eligible households in SEVCA's service area.
- In conjunction with EVT, develop and initiate special projects to increase the capacity of EVT outreach to reach all eligible local families, including advertising, recruitment materials, and local publicity; and manage local outreach to recruit participants.
- Keep thorough and accurate records, including documentation of education, direct install, and outreach activities, and enter and compile data needed for ongoing evaluation, including documentation of group trainings, while maintaining confidentiality of all participant household information in compliance with all applicable laws, standards and regulations.
- Work with Weatherization staff to identify opportunities for education and behavior change among their clients; complete individualized goal setting with participants; provide regular progress assessment, home visits and other support as needed; and integrate project services into ongoing Weatherization services.
- Coordinate efforts with Family Services, Head Start, other SEVCA staff, and community partners to promote and deliver program services.
- Promote SEVCA'S Weatherization programs positively and proactively in meetings, as part of other initiatives, and in the community at large.
- Participate in program orientation and energy efficiency behavior change curriculum training, and in ongoing program-specific and general professional development training.
Job Standards/Accountability
- Effective and productive relationships are developed and maintained with participants, SEVCA program staff, community partners, local energy committees, and other resources.
- Energy efficiency behavior change information is effectively disseminated one-on-one to individual households and in group presentations to key partners and the larger community.
- Services for EVT participants are provided with quality and effectiveness, and expected energy savings and energy-related behavior change outcomes are achieved.
- Participants are treated with respect and consideration, and confidentiality is maintained.
- EVT, Weatherization, and SEVCA and its other programs are represented in a positive manner to participants and the general public.
Working Conditions
This is an onsite position. It is not remote. The Efficiency Coach is based at 91 Buck Drive in Westminster, VT. The role entails:
- Frequent travel throughout service area, with agency vehicle when possible and private vehicle when needed, and occasional travel outside the area.
- Regular physical activity that may involve walking, standing, crouching, kneeling, balancing, reaching, crawling into tight spaces, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Regular office work, including computer tasks requiring working knowledge of basic software applications, and with standard office equipment.

Requirements:Professional, educational, and other experience or familiarity with energy efficiency and related programs, as well as knowledge of community resources is required. Demonstrated excellent customer service skills with a wide range of individuals is also required. Experience effectively delivering training or educational information is preferred. Additionally needed are:
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational, recordkeeping, computer and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with self-initiative and as an effective team member.
- Ability to travel frequently in service area and periodically around the state.
- A valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable, insured vehicle.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, and to use basic construction-related tools and equipment.
