Job Description

About the Position

Conduit Power is seeking a Data Engineer to help build and scale our cloud-native data platform that powers operational visibility, power market analytics, asset performance monitoring, and business intelligence across our growing generation portfolio.

In this role, you will design and develop scalable data pipelines, streaming data solutions, and cloud native applications that transform high-volume operational, SCADA, and ERCOT market data into trusted data products. Working closely with Operations, Commercial, and Engineering teams, you will help build and drive production systems supporting real-time analytics, automation, forecasting, and data-driven decision making.

You will:

Data Platform & Engineering

  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable cloud-native data pipelines and data platform architecture on AWS.
  • Build and maintain batch and streaming ETL/ELT workflows that ingest, transform, and validate high-frequency operational, SCADA, time-series, and power market data (ERCOT, SPP, PJM, etc.) across distributed generation assets.
  • Develop production-ready solutions using tools such as Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Python, SQL, and AWS services including S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, ECS, Step Functions.
  • Integrate telemetry, historian, and operational technology (OT) data into enterprise data platforms supporting real-time and historical analytics.

Analytics Engineering

  • Design and optimize data models that power dashboards, reporting, and self-service analytics through Sigma.
  • Implement automated data quality validation, monitoring, observability, and troubleshooting to ensure trusted production data.

DevOps & Engineering Excellence

  • Contribute to GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines, version control, containerized deployment, and engineering best practices for data applications.
  • Utilize modern AI assisted engineering tools (Cursor, Claude, or similar) to improve software development, debugging, documentation, and engineering productivity.
  • Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency across the data platform.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a related role.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, Git, and modern cloud data platforms, preferably AWS
  • Experience building and maintaing ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouse, and cloud native data platforms.
  • Experience with Snowflake, dbt, and modern data modeling techniques
  • Experience working with large scale datasets, time-series data, streaming data, and event-driven architectures
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestrations frameworks such as Apache Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, AWS Step Functions, or similar
  • Experience with distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, PySpark, or similar is preferred.
  • Experience with streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, MQTT, or similar messaging technologies is a plus
  • Experience with containerization, CI/CD, and version control (Docker, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, generative AI technologies, or AI-powered data platforms (e.g., Snowflake Cortex) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, industrial telemetry, historian data, or operational technology environments is preferred
  • AWS certifications and experience in the energy, utilities, power generation, or renewable energy sectors is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, MQTT, OPC-UA, or DNP3 are a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • This is an onsite position based in Houston, Texas. Candidates must be willing and able to work from the Houston office Monday through Thursday.
