Director, Threat Research Engagement

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Threat Research Engagement based in United States.

This leadership role is responsible for shaping how advanced cybersecurity research is communicated, amplified, and leveraged across the security ecosystem.
The position sits at the intersection of threat intelligence, marketing strategy, content innovation, and industry engagement.
You will translate complex security findings and research insights into compelling narratives for executives, practitioners, partners, and media audiences.
The role offers the opportunity to influence global cybersecurity conversations and strengthen market authority through impactful research programs.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including security researchers, product leaders, sales teams, and external security communities.
The ideal candidate will combine deep cybersecurity knowledge with strategic storytelling, leadership, and a passion for emerging technologies, including AI.

Accountabilities:

The Director, Threat Research Engagement will lead the strategy and execution of initiatives that transform technical threat intelligence into high-impact market engagement programs. This role will drive awareness, adoption, and business value by connecting research insights with customer needs and industry priorities.

  • Develop strategic messaging and positioning that establishes the threat research function as a trusted authority in cybersecurity intelligence.
  • Lead the creation and launch of major research reports, intelligence releases, and engagement programs in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Transform complex technical research, security telemetry, and findings into compelling content tailored for executives, technical audiences, media, and AI-driven discovery platforms.
  • Build and maintain relationships with security information-sharing organizations, industry communities, and strategic partners to expand research visibility and influence.
  • Enable sales teams with tools, narratives, and resources that connect threat intelligence insights to customer discussions and business outcomes.
  • Create scalable content strategies and engagement frameworks that maximize the reach and impact of research initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a hybrid team of creative and technically focused professionals.
  • Incorporate AI-powered tools and workflows to improve content development, research engagement, and operational efficiency.
Requirements:

The successful candidate will bring a strong combination of cybersecurity expertise, strategic communication skills, and leadership experience. They should be comfortable working across technical and business teams while translating complex security concepts into clear, actionable insights.

  • 10–12 years of experience in product marketing, cybersecurity research, threat intelligence, security communications, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Journalism, or another relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing go-to-market strategies, positioning, messaging, and content programs for security or SaaS audiences.
  • Strong understanding of the threat intelligence landscape, security research communities, and information-sharing ecosystems.
  • Experience collaborating with technical research teams, product organizations, sales teams, and executive stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop hybrid, cross-functional teams.
  • Experience using AI tools and emerging technologies to improve workflows, content creation, and problem-solving approaches.
  • Strong storytelling abilities with experience communicating effectively to both technical practitioners and senior business leaders.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate with urgency, accountability, and a strong focus on measurable impact.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, MBA, cybersecurity certifications, or direct experience with security research, incident response, analyst relations, or media engagement.
