Position Overview
The Radiation Therapy Nurse plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient-centered care and supporting the overall clinical operations of the practice. This position works collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, the Director of Operations, and clinical leadership to ensure efficient workflows, outstanding patient experiences, and adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and core values. The Radiation Therapy Nurse serves as a compassionate advocate for patients throughout their treatment journey while maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate onboarding and training for newly hired medical assistant staff to promote high-quality patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Delegate responsibilities within the nursing team to ensure appropriate coverage and balanced workloads.
  • Manage and coordinate patient schedules for physicians and advanced practice providers.
  • Assist with medication prior authorizations, disability paperwork, and other patient care coordination needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of OSHA standards and ensure compliance with all applicable safety and infection control guidelines.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms for procedures and assist providers with clinical care as needed.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, treatments, and care plans while addressing questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Accurately document all nursing interventions in the electronic medical record (EMR), including medications, dosages, administration routes, treatment details, adverse reactions, and related clinical information.
  • Triage patient phone calls professionally and efficiently, recognizing individual patient needs and ensuring concerns are appropriately assessed, addressed, documented, and communicated.
  • Provide patient education, counseling, and support throughout the continuum of care.
  • Conduct comprehensive review of systems and medication reconciliation prior to patient appointments.
  • Scribe office visits and maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members to support exceptional patient outcomes and continuity of care.

  • Qualifications & Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) program.
  • Current Arizona RN license in good standing required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience preferred.
  • Oncology and/or radiation oncology experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.
