The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and safety-focused Excavator Operator to join our team at a project in Fort McMurray. This is a camp-based position, flights provided from Calgary and Edmonton hub airports.
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience operating heavy equipment in oil sands environments.
Compensation/Benefits
- CLAC rates
- Time and a half after 8 hours
- Regular work day 10.5 hours 2.5 OT per day

Responsibilities and Duties
- Ability to safety operate excavator
- Work cooperatively with crew to accomplish tasks
- Consistently monitor and maintain compliance with safety policies procedures and regulations
- Ensure a safe team environment
- Perform daily routine maintenance on machine including lubrication and monitor needed repairs/service requirements
- Operate equipment while maintaining proper awareness of surroundings
- Understand and complete pre and post safety checks
- Compliance with all safety regulations
- Various other duties assigned
Qualifications
- 5+ years of excavator operating experience, preferably in oil sands, industrial, pipeline or heavy civil construction
- Experience operating excavators ranging from 30-ton to 80-ton class equipment considered an asset
- Proven experience with trenching, utility installation, ditching, grading and production excavation
- Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- Strong communication skills
- Valid Ground Disturbance ticket
- Familiarity with GPS and other tracking devices
- Drivers license with a clean drivers abstract
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and procedures
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
