High School Diploma or GED required. 2 years hazardous materials operations. Other Forklift certification 90 Days required.

Position Purpose:

Under general supervision, the Hazardous Materials Operator II is responsible for, the proper on-site handling, storage, recovery and disposal of hazardous materials/waste, distribution of bulk chemicals, and emergency spill response.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Under direction of Manager, Supervisor, or Hazardous Materials Lead conduct collection and movement of hazardous waste for disposal using provided tools (e.g., carts, forklift, pallet jacks, drum dolly/truck) .
  • Under direction of Manager, Supervisor, or Hazardous Materials Lead conduct delivery of hazardous materials using provided tools (e.g., forklift, pallet jacks, drum dolly/truck) .
  • Under direction of Manager, Supervisor, or Hazardous Materials Lead assist with waste shipments .
  • Communicates with Manager, Supervisor, or Hazardous Materials Lead to identify safety concerns and hazardous material/waste documentation, handling, storage, and disposal requirements .
  • Identify alternative products or processes that would minimize waste streams whenever possible .
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of treatment processes, materials, quantities and test results .
  • Maintain a current knowledge of Federal, State, and Corporate Hazardous Materials regulations and procedures .
  • Maintain training credentials on internal hazardous waste storage and disposal procedures .
  • Additional Functions:

  • Perform emergency spill response for all facilities .
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Other Requirements:

  • A working knowledge of Federal, State waste regulations.
  • Basic math skills are required.
  • Knowledge of procedures for the handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
