Retail Pharmacy Technician in Marion, Indiana at Marion Health

The retail pharmacy technician plays a key role in assisting the pharmacist and managers in filling, compounding, dispensing of medications. The retail pharmacy technician will provide excellent customer service and ensure the accuracy, safety and efficiency in all pharmacy process, Under the supervision of the pharmacist, the technician will assist in any manner deemed necessary. May have additional duties assigned based on the advanced training received.

Responsibilities

• Accurately prepare, label, and dispense prescription medications under pharmacist supervision
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients, caregivers, and staff
• Process prescription orders including data entry and insurance adjudication
• Manage Inventory, restock medications and monitor for expired products
• Operate cash register and handle transactions in accordance with policies
• Maintain compliance with state, federal and Marion Health Regulations
• Support workflow efficiency in a fast-paced retain pharmacy environment

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• State of Indiana Pharmacy Technician License
• Must obtain CPhT, NRCPhT or ExCPT certification within two years of initial employment and maintain certification once obtained.

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
• Retail pharmacy experience

• Must have a strong ability in math calculations and medical terminology.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, providers and other hospital personnel on a one-to-one basis using appropriate grammar, vocabulary and word usage.
• Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.
• Developed computer skills and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong organizational skills in order to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with ability to effectively prioritize.
• Ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of any confidential matter or information encountered during the performance of job duties.

• Typical hospital clinical environment with frequent standing and walking.
• Work may be subject to interruptions.
• Risk of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious, electrical and radiation hazards.
• Works with protected health information.
• Ability to work any shift, occasional extended hours, holidays and/or weekends based on the needs of the department.

• Uses computer and other standard office equipment.
