Job Description

Firestorm Labs is seeking an Operations Analyst to join our growing team in San Diego. At Firestorm Labs, we are building the future of distributed, mission-adaptive airpower for the modern warfighter. The Operations Analyst is a critical role responsible for leading the rollout of Crucible — Firestorm’s in-house software platform built to drive and standardize manufacturing activities — across the San Diego facility. This role requires a detail-oriented, analytical leader who thrives in a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence, with the ability to translate manufacturing workflows into structured, software-driven processes.
We are looking for a hands-on analyst who thrives in a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence — someone who takes ownership of the Crucible rollout and is committed to ensuring production activities are accurately captured, tracked, and optimized through the platform.
You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to configure Crucible around real production workflows, train users, and ensure the platform supports evolving technical requirements and volume goals. Your work will directly influence Firestorm's ability to scale efficiently, maintain data integrity across production, and ensure mission readiness across all platforms.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the end-to-end rollout of Crucible across the San Diego manufacturing facility, including configuration, testing, and go-live support.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to map existing production workflows into Crucible and ensure the system accurately reflects build processes.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and hands-on sessions to onboard production staff and supervisors onto Crucible.
  • Monitor Crucible usage and data quality, identifying gaps, troubleshooting issues, and driving continuous improvement in partnership with internal stakeholders and software developers.
  • Analyze production data captured in Crucible to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities to improve throughput, and report findings to leadership.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Crucible-related questions and issues on the production floor, providing timely support to end users.
  • Support documentation and change management efforts related to the Crucible rollout, ensuring procedures are captured, updated, and clearly communicated.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Quality teams to ensure Crucible integrates smoothly with existing inventory, quality, and production planning processes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR regulations, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • 3+ years of experience in operations, manufacturing, production support, or business systems roles, preferably in aerospace, defense, or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Experience supporting or leading the rollout, configuration, or administration of manufacturing execution systems (MES), ERP modules, or similar production software.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing workflows, production scheduling, and quality processes sufficient to translate them into a software system.
  • Experience partnering with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain functions to gather requirements and drive system adoption.
  • Technical aptitude related to drone or UAV systems, including familiarity with production and assembly workflows sufficient to support a manufacturing team.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret production and system data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Excellent communication abilities and effective cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and comfort working with software systems, databases, and data tools.
  • Demonstrated commitment to training, user adoption, and change management in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
  • Clear and professional communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with MES, ERP systems (e.g., Costpoint), or custom-built manufacturing software platforms.
  • Prior experience in an early-stage, high-growth tech or hardware startup environment.
  • Experience with data analysis or reporting tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI, Tableau) to support system rollouts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, fast-paced software implementation projects in a dynamic environment
Work Environment
  • This role is based in San Diego, CA.
  • We welcome candidates who are local or open to relocating; relocation assistance is available and may be included in the offer package where appropriate.
  • PPE is provided; adherence to all safety protocols and environmental controls is mandatory.
  • Some travel may be required to support cross-functional coordination; ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
This position typically operates in a standard office setting and manufacturing environment. This role requires use of standard office equipment and the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about regularly throughout the day. Must have manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment.
