About the team:
The Infection Prevention Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the Infection Prevention Program at Summit Pacific Medical Center. This role focuses on reducing risk through surveillance, control, and prevention initiatives in compliance with state and federal regulations and accreditation standards. The Infection Prevention Program Coordinator collaborates with hospital and rural health clinic leadership to enhance patient safety and reduce hospital-acquired infections.
Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registration:
Job Specific Duties:
- Investigate, evaluate, interpret, and report hospital-acquired infections using CDC/NHSN definitions.
- Review lab and microbiology reports, prepare presentations, communicate findings, and validate information for appropriate treatment.
- Ensure that reportable diseases are communicated to county or state agencies.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to meet regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement interventions to mitigate infection risks, such as quarantine, isolation, or ceasing of processes.
- Facilitate ongoing monitoring of the effectiveness of infection control activities and interventions.
- Assist in outbreak investigations and institute corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare and provide infection prevention education to the workforce.
- Serve as a resource for best practices, current research, and guidelines in infection prevention.
- Partner with various departments and leadership to enhance infection prevention knowledge across the organization.
- Work closely with the Employee Health department to monitor and manage occupational exposures to infectious diseases.
- Provide guidance on vaccination programs, employee screenings, and post-exposure follow-up.
- Assist in developing and implementing protocols for employee health related to infection prevention.
- Collaborate on initiatives aimed at reducing healthcare-associated infections among staff.
- Stay current on regulatory changes, compliance issues, and best practices in infection prevention.
- Develop and implement the annual Infection Prevention and Control plan.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and maintain programs and records in good order.
- Act as a liaison across disciplines, consulting with physicians, nurses, and other hospital and clinic personnel.
- Participate in and lead workgroups, projects, and committees related to infection prevention.
- Collaborate with the Facilities Manager on Environment of Care regulations and other relevant matters.
- Engage in special projects and other related duties as assigned by the Director of Quality, Compliance and Patient Safety.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of nursing theories, clinical epidemiology, and infectious disease prevention.
- Proficiency in sterilization, sanitation, and disinfection practices.
- Ability to develop and implement processes and protocols for infection prevention.
- Strong leadership skills, including visionary leadership, team collaboration, effective communication, decision-making, change management, and mentorship.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating effective problem-solving and organizational skills.
The compensation range is $87,767.51 to $129,457.07 depending on experience.
