Job Description
We are looking to hire an experienced construction accountant to join our company. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing the accounts of various construction projects by creating detailed budgets, overseeing supplier contracts, evaluating production costs, and verifying invoice statements.
To ensure success as a construction accountant, you should display excellent business acumen and the ability to minimize production costs through efficient accounting. Ultimately, the construction accountant is an analytical and detail-oriented individual with a high level of financial accuracy.
Job Duties Include:
Create projects and budgets within Computer Ease software
Create subcontracts within Computer Ease
Enter Subcontractor invoices
Create AIA invoices for monthly draws for current projects
Reconcile bank account to the general ledger
Initiate check runs
Communicate with title companies/funding sources about documentation requirements
Create spreadsheets for projects
Reconcile corporate WIP from the 1700 accounts, 1800 accounts and intercompany notes payable/receivable
Cut checks for corporate
Close the construction books in Computer Ease monthly
Enter closing entry into Real Page
Reconcile Computer Ease GL to Real Page GL
Collect lien waivers for each draw, compile and send to title/bank
Work with the project managers and the VP of construction with miscellaneous requests:
Spreadsheets
Reports
Create new AP files for new vendors/contractors
Collect W9's for all new vendors
Create list for annual 1099's and give to corporate to include with their 1099 process
Coordinate with property accounting and corporate accounting when working on projects that cross departments
Work on credit card charges for the construction team, run reports and make required journal entries to move charges to the correct projects and enter the journal entries into real page
Work with payroll to create bill back invoices for any credit card charges to appropriate projects or to property management
Certified Payroll & Prevailing Wage knowledge helpful
Qualifications
Knowledge of G702/G703 forms and lien waivers.
Proven experience in construction accounting.
3 + years overall combined accounting and financial experience.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in RealPage, ComputerEase and Procore software is a plus, but not required.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional open office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., however, a flexible work schedule may be approved after a probationary or training period. Additional hours are expected during busier periods (i.e. month-end, audit, budget).
Travel
No regular travel is expected for this position. However, local travel between the Madison and Milwaukee offices may be required on occasion, as well as travel for training.
