This recruitment is to fill a Term-Limited Temporary position that is anticipated to end December 31, 2026. If filled by a King County employee who has passed their initial probation, it will be as a Special Duty Assignment.
King County’s Finance and Business Operations Division, Business Development & Contract Compliance section, is seeking a highly customer focused administrative professional who thrives in a challenging fast paced environment, enjoys being at the center of things, and can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish our mission.

This position will interface with team members, business owners, contractors, and county project staff; and assist in the administration of all our programs. The work requires someone who is highly organized with an attention to detail, likes to handle technically challenging projects and program administration, and identifies their success through the success of the entire team.
Scope of Job Duties: To be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum, demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability to:
- Serve as the Business Development and Contract Compliance (BDCC) section main contact demonstrating strong customer service skills with clients, vendors and the public by telephone, email, and in-person. Monitor and respond to incoming emails for the section’s main email inboxes. Research, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
- Serve as a program certification administrator for small business owners and main point of contact. Review certification and recertification applications for completeness, obtain missing information, assign complete applications to an evaluator for review, and process approved applications. Maintain and monitor the renewal of expiring certifications. Participate in business development and outreach efforts.
- Process invoice payments using Oracle IExpense/IProcurement. Create requisitions and process Purchase Orders. Review Purchasing Card (P-Card) Transactions for approval and maintain all back up documents and receipts. Coordinate Expense and Travel approval and reimbursements.
- Coordinate special projects and events.
- Maintain contracts for section ensuring they are current and have funds. Work with procurement staff to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Draft and edit written email responses, original documents, and presentation materials using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Develop and maintain various tracking logs; maintain metrics and tier boards; update and maintain sections organization chart and SharePoint sites.
- Coordinate and manage new staff on-boarding, staff moves, and public disclosure requests.
- Develop and update standard work processes.
- Process PeopleSoft Time and Labor Bi-weekly, requiring a high degree of detail and accuracy; Provide support for payroll issues or concerns.
- Order and maintain supplies and assist with the procurement of technical equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Administrative experience supporting a group in a high-volume environment. Experience should include tracking multiple deliverables; organizing, preparing, and maintaining records and reports with attention to detail and accuracy; drafting and editing documents and email communications.
- Customer service experience that includes acting as the main point of contact for a group via phone, email and/or in person with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Experience reviewing and working with financial records; researching, troubleshooting, and processing invoices and credit card expenses (King County uses a Purchasing Card and Oracle), and processing payroll.
- Experience maintaining records in multiple electronic databases with attention to detail.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, writing and customer service skills; ability to take initiative to complete necessary tasks or improvements and hold yourself accountable.
- Ability to manage your time and adapt to changing priorities, work on multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, meet quick deadlines, and produce timely and quality work products.
- Ability to uphold King County and Equity and Social Justice values.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate respectfully with a wide variety of people from differing backgrounds.
- Intermediate level of technology proficiency using MS Office Productivity tools in your daily work.
We would love it if you had:
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Experience using Oracle (or similar programs).
- Experience with LEAN processes and principles.
- Experience with SharePoint, MS Teams, and other collaborative online tools.

Position Information:
- Work Site Details: The work associated with this position will primarily be remote. In office requirements may change as required by King County business needs and for meetings/events.
- Location Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
- Work Schedule: This position is Non-Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek; normally 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Friday 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
- Union Representation: This position is not represented.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop. When working remotely employees must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work, remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours, and follow FBOD’s Hybrid and Remote Guidelines including on-camera participation during virtual video meetings.
