About the Role:
As a Vet Tech Assistant at Chippens Hill Veterinary Hospital, your main responsibility will be to provide support to the veterinary technicians and veterinarians in delivering high-quality care to our animal patients. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hospital and the well-being of the animals. Your primary focus will be on assisting with various procedures, handling and restraining animals, preparing and maintaining equipment, and providing compassionate care to our patients. By working closely with the veterinary team, you will contribute to the overall health and happiness of the animals under our care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with animals, such as volunteering at an animal shelter or working at a veterinary clinic.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle and restrain animals in a safe and compassionate manner.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Veterinary Assistant.
- Experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinic.
- Knowledge of basic veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
- Ability to perform basic laboratory tests, such as blood and urine analysis.
- Experience with animal behavior and handling techniques.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians in various procedures, such as examinations, vaccinations, and surgeries.
- Handle and restrain animals during procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Prepare and maintain equipment, ensuring it is clean and in good working condition.
- Monitor and record vital signs of animals, reporting any abnormalities to the veterinary team.
- Provide compassionate care to animals, including feeding, walking, and grooming.
