Administrative Director of Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike (FQHC-LA)

Job Summary

The Administrative Director of the Marion Health Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike (“MH FQHC-LA”) is responsible for the management and the development of the MH FQHC-LA and its clinic operations in a manner consistent with the MH FQHC-LA bylaws. In furtherance of the foregoing, the Administrative Director of FQHC-LA shall:

i) be accountable to the Marion Health President/CEO subject to the provisions set forth in the MH FQHC-LA bylaws;

ii) develop, direct and lead the MH FQHC-LA mission and goals;

iii) develop and implement strategic, business and health plans, and facilitate the implementation of the programs and activities to ensure the success of MH FQHC-LA clinic operations;

iv) manage and supervise MH FQHC-LA program managers and serve as a liaison to MH FQHC-LA staff;

v) provide the MH FQHC-LA Board of Directors with the necessary resources to analyze and execute the established plans, goals and objectives of the MH FQHC-LA;

vi) ensure organizational compliance with provisions of the MH FQHC-LA bylaws; and

vii) research, develop and secure funding to maintain essential MH FQHC-LA operations and programs. The Board of Directors will approve the selection, termination or dismissal of the Administrative Director of FQHC-LA.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of managerial and/or supervisory experience in a health care organization.
  • A combination of education, experience and training that would ensure the successful performance of the duties of this position may be substituted for these requirements.

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in business or public administration, or related field.
  • Federally Qualified Health Center administration and senior management experience.
  • Experience with completing applications for HRSA Programs and/or grants.
  • Project Management experience.

  • Budget development and management, marketing development, business planning, customer and public relations, healthcare and related programs development, grant writing and management, and direct interaction with a Board of Directors.
  • High level of leadership skills to assist in the direction of FQHC-LA staff.
  • Proactive, results-oriented approach to management, sound problem-solving and decision-making ability, well-developed interpersonal skills to interact in sensitive and/or complex situations with a variety of people.
  • Ability to promote teamwork and build effective relationships.
  • Very high level of communication skills to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to foster cooperative and effective working relationships with the management team, Board of Directors, business/community associates and the community at large.
  • Ability to attend meetings, seminars and/or conferences on behalf of the corporation.
  • Knowledge of policies, governmental regulations and business practices pertinent to the department.
  • Excellent time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to problem solve, multi-task in a fast-paced setting and work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to negotiate effective working relationships and develop positive resolution to conflict.
  • Highly developed computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent management skills.
  • Strong organizational, financial, leadership and administrative skills to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with ability to effectively prioritize.
  • Ability to effectively perform job functions under periods of extreme stress, meeting deadlines and producing positive outcomes.
  • High degree of accuracy with concentration and close attention to detail.
  • Commitment of 24-hour accountability.
  • Ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of any confidential matter or information encountered during the performance of job duties.
  • Record of creative and appropriate approach to identifying and implementing new methods for growing practices while providing good stewardship of practice and system resources.
  • Must have a strong understanding of medical billing principles, Medicare, Medicaid and other managed care regulations typically obtained through formal training and/or job experience.

Working Conditions

  • Typical office environment with prolonged sitting and occasional standing and walking.
  • Work may be subject to interruptions and occasional high stress levels.
  • Ability to work extended hours or weekends based on the needs of the department.
  • Works with highly confidential information which may be proprietary or protected health information.
  • May attend special functions and meetings at various locations within Marion Health and community.
  • Occasional overnight stays.
