About This Position

Job Summary

Increase customer’s profitability and competitiveness within Launch Schedule by:

  • Utilizing customer information systems including but not limited to SAP, DCC, and Maximo to optimize customer’s investment in spare part/indirect material inventory for both new programs and plant retooling projects.
  • Identifying process improvements that increase productivity, decrease downtime, and produce significant on-going cost savings
  • Create and maintain effective relationships with OEM’s, suppliers and customer personnel including but not limited to Maintenance, Engineering, Indirect Materials, Plant Launch Team and Leadership) to meet and exceed customer responsiveness expectations. This generally involves investigating situations and/ or performing data analysis to generate information to problem solve and/or provide customer requested information
  • Perform special projects and other work as needed or requested
  • Lower Ideal Setech’s operating costs by improving internal processes and procedures
  • Performs all Job Functions in accordance to Company Handbooks, Policies, Procedures, Work Instructions and Safety Protocol

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide engineering support for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic for GM Launch Plants
  • Identifies and develops effective documentation to measure and analyze current inventory levels, lists of materials, purchased parts, equipment and miscellaneous items required to support spart stocking process.
  • Perform stocking analysis using OEM bill of materials, SPS1b and/or other documents provided by machine builders to:
  • Suggest inventory stocking levels based on component criticality, cost, lead time, repairability and number of machines used on within both the plant and entire corporation
  • Identify items not likely to fail therefore not needed to be set up
  • Identify component parts vs stocking complete assemblies
  • Identify assets/sub-assemblies vs wearable parts
  • Analyzes launch parts to stock parts at Share The Spare and/or Flint Distribution Center associated inventory levels
  • Supports emergency breakdowns by interfacing with both Headquarters and plant engineers and maintenance personnel to determine repairs and parts needed
  • Works directly with plants concerning technical issues and ensuring customer relations are maintained and objectives are established and accomplished.

  • Must have previous Powertrain plant experience supporting machine maintenance and engineering
  • Knowledge of GM processes are a plus. Knowledge of plants and OEM’s is also desired

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blue prints, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and safety rules
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to use Inventory Management Systems (SAP, Maximo, DCC)
  • Ability to take direction
  • Ability to successfully complete all standardized work and assignments with limited supervision
  • Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources
  • Communicate information effectively to internal and external customers
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form
