About This Position
Position Summary:
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s (BSO) Governing Members Lounge (GM Lounge) is an exclusive benefit for BSO donors of a generous annual giving level. To strengthen a strong relationship with our donors, the BSO is looking for a steady server that is available for 95% of the season’s dates and open to additional shifts scheduled 1- 2 months in advance. The GM Lounge Service Associate is responsible for serving GM Lounge patrons, as well as establishing friendly relationships with those patrons.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Inventory and organize the GM Lounge closets.
- Reorder supplies in tandem with Experience Team and Spectrum concession provider.
- Set up GM Lounge furniture in the standard configuration or as directed by the Experience Team.
- Prepare the Lounge for evening service, including:
- Stock the bar with ice
- Preparing and setting out appropriate quantities of snacks and beverages based on attendance
- Set up the coffee maker
- Spot-checking the lounge to ensure it presents a professional appearance
- Confirming that all emergency exits are clear of obstructions
- Restock during intermission (as needed).
- Shut down the GM Lounge at the conclusion of each evening.
- Collaborate with the GM Lounge Host to ensure the GM Lounge Checklist is completed before, during, and after each event.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Minimum of two years of customer service experience in a hospitality or event production role.
- Ability to stand and remain active for the duration of BSO events, typically 4–5 hours.
- Ability to move medium-sized objects such as tables and chairs, and to lift or move boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current TIPS (Training for Intervention ProcedureS) Certification (or willingness to obtain; training costs up to $50 covered by the BSO).
- Interest in and basic knowledge of classical music.
- Familiarity with the area surrounding the Meyerhoff, including fine dining options, simple directions to I-83 and I-95, and common ride share pick-up locations.
