SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician for an upcoming contract supporting operations within a local healthcare facility.

SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 150 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.

Pay will be $33.28/hr. There is also an additional $4.93/hr in health & welfare you will receive.

Working hours will be Monday – Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm.

May also be required to work holidays, and overtime based on care needs, but on-call or standby duties may be required. Shifts will be established and may be revised by the Chief of Staff to ensure optimal patient care.

To be eligible for the position, you must possess the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from a NAACLS-accredited program
• Certification from ASCP or AMT.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical laboratory generalist duties in all areas of the laboratory including phlebotomy, urinalysis, coagulation, hematology, immunohematology, blood gases, microbiology and chemistry.
• Perform a wide variety of manual and automated procedures, including moderate and complex analysis.
• Develops, performs, evaluates, interprets, correlates, and validates the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results.
• Testing procedures are performed on a variety of biological specimens using manual or automated techniques and require a broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision.
• The work performed will be in Chemistry (including endocrinology and toxicology), coagulation, hematology, immunology, immunohematology, blood gases, urinalysis, microbiology, and phlebotomy.
• Monitor quality control systems and measures; collaborate in the diagnosis and treatment of patients; and provide education for laboratory and other healthcare professionals, and others in the medical center setting including the public.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures, providing clear instructions and reassurance as needed.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely delivery of services.
• Adhere to established protocols and procedures for safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality.
• Maintain equipment functionality by performing routine maintenance and participating in quality assurance activities.
• Document procedures accurately in electronic medical records and other relevant systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from a NAACLS-accredited program
• Certification from ASCP or AMT.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in the past 3 years.
• BLS (CPR) certification from AHA or equivalent required
• All candidates will be subjected to a background/security investigation and must also pass a pre-employment physical exam. Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
